Beautiful iconic pool with direct beach access. They did not accommodate my early arrival, the front desk slipped and said they did have rooms available but they were a different rate than what I booked so they made sure I waited until 4pm on the dot to give me my room key. Service was ok, nothing terrible nor outstanding...what I would expect for this area of Miami Beach. Overall a great value considering the super high room rates in this area. Great walking distance to everything you need - Lincoln Road, great restaurants etc.

Room Tip: Don't expect them to accommodate you if you arrive before check-in time.

Marci, Greetings from The National Hotel

Thank you for taking the time to write a review as your feedback is very important to better ourselves and provide the Team with the direct opinions of our Travelers.

We are very sorry we were not able to grant your request for early arrival, our Hotel runs on very high levels of occupancy every night and its very difficult to get rooms early as the guest departing are also asking for late check outs.

We are continuously performing training to our staff to better their caliber of service and reach our guest expectations.

Look directly on our Website for the best rates, promotions and events when Travels brings you back to Miami Beach.

Best Regards

Yaser

We stayed in one of the many cabana rooms that run along the long pool. Clean and comfortable. The lobby is very clean and staff friendly and helpful. The long pool is a fantastic place to cool off. That particular pool is unheated and doesn't have to be in Miami Beach. The water is refreshing and only 5 ft. deep in the middle and 3 ft. at each end. A comfortable pool to relax and chill. The hotel is only 1/2 block from Lincoln RD's restaurants and shopping. and 21/2 - 3 blocks from Ocean DR. Everything is in walking distances.

we stayed in room 314. we waited over 5 hours for our room to be ready...as they had to clean it. apparently, they forgot to clean it!!!!!!!!! so dirty! hair all over bathroom. a bottle of head and shoulders shampoo was on the bathroom floor. the rug was very wet with a stain, a drug pipe was on the roof outside of our room, the pillows smelled of smoke and we ordered room service and my fish taco had a long blonde hair in them!!!!!! GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!! the pool was nice, but I would never stay here or recommend to anyone!!!!!!!!

Love this hotel. We had the suite over looking the pool with a huge balcony. The room was clean as was the whole place. It is on the beach. And also on Collins Ave. right near Ocean Ave. Perfect location. Would go back in a heartbeat

Things are starting to go a bit downhill - a shame, such a fantastic place. We hadn't been in a couple of years. The rooms are looking worn, the painted trim is badly chipped, an easy refresh, but left undone. The cleanliness is not nearly as good as before in the rooms - the floors are truly filthy!! A quick walk across the room barefoot will earn you black soles!
The breakfast buffet has fewer options, but still quite a variety. Sadly, some items ran out quickly, and you were out of luck pretty early for some of the most desired items. Instead of individual jars of jams there are now large pint containers - which were being vigorously dug into by children with questionably clean hands. No thanks!
Trying to get towels for the beach was a trial - they were often out; once we waited two hours after being told 10 minutes. On several days there was loud, heavily thumping music playing in the outdoor areas, which the last two days of our stay was replaced by the more calming music we'd remembered and much preferred.
There were a few mechanical issues while we were there - no a/c for nearly a full day, and some sort of elevator issue for a couple of hours in the other building.
On the other hand - the location is superb! The pools are breathtakingly beautiful and well maintained. The outside areas are very well kept, the plants trimmed and well cared for. Just outside the gate is both the beach and a walking path that stretches out in both directions and is well maintained. Beach chaises and towels (when available) are free if you are staying at the hotel, umbrellas are extra. Lots of shopping and good places to eat are within easy walking distance of the hotel.
The beds and linens are great - if you're looking for a great night's sleep this is the place. Seriously smooth linens, and very comfortable mattresses. Most of the staff is very friendly if not always efficient. There were a few kerfluffles with check in requiring a room change.
The toiletries are good quality, and they've added after-sun gel (very welcome) and shaving items to their usual shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, lotion, shower caps and cotton toiletry items. There is a hair dryer of mediocre quality - odd to have such a weak one in a beach hotel, but it works.
A breakfast on the terrace overlooking the pools perusing your choice of the Wall Street Journal or the New York Times is a fantastic way to start the day. On the whole this is still a great place, just fading a bit from when we've stayed (multiple times) before.

Room Tip: Higher oceanside rooms have the best view, but the cabana rooms are much larger.
