“Off-season is perfect here”
Reviewed 12 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

May at Maison des Fleurs—the color in the gardens on the property is amazing. The weather is perfect, with crisp cool mornings and warm sunny afternoons. What a perfect base for wandering this beautiful countryside and visiting caves and castles. The food markets are marvelous. May is strawberry month in Dordogne. How I’d love to go back in the fall, when the walnuts and other crops come to those markets. David has done a gorgeous restoration of this charming group of buildings with his own imagination and his own hands. Our stay was a pleasure in every way.

“Stay here - perfect combination of old and new”
Reviewed 19 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

This is the one, just stay here! Lovely gite in a truly beautiful location. The flowers really do look like the pictures, we saw them all come out during one hot week in April.

Gite was original kitchen for the main house, now tastefully refurbished with a modern kitchen, lovely sitting room, a very comfortable double bed and surprisingly large bathroom (full bath and reasonable shower). Plenty hot water, adequate wifi, and central heating if needed for chilly mornings.

Outside, you could sit and just watch the flowers and birds all day. 15 minutes walk to St Pompon (harder uphill coming back), which is a pretty village with a restaurant, bar, boulangerie, pharmacy and small supermarket. 15 minutes by car to the river Dordogne. Loads to see nearby.

Finally, David is an excellent host, always ready to chat with good suggestions of where to go and what to see.

You cannot go wrong here!

“Everything we hoped for and more!! Idyllic!!”
Reviewed 17 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We've just returned after spending a week at Maison des Fleurs which is situated in some beautiful countryside in the Dordogne. David the owner is a fund of ideas if you'd like some isuggestions on places of interest to visit nearby. The cottage is delightful and fitted out tastefully with everything you might need. We had a wonderful relaxing time. It is located close to St Pompon - a beautiful little village which has a great restaurant and small local shops. We visited some gorgeous markets and saw some amazing countryside. There is also a golf course nearby

“Perfectly located and appointed”
Reviewed 16 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We’ve just come back from a fantastic 2 weeks staying in Maison des Fleurs. The gite is beautiful, and the perfect size for 2 people. We found it to be spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed for the times we decided to stay in and cook. It’s also in a very quiet and idyllic situation, the perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace.
St Pompon itself is a pretty, and vibrant village, with all the facilities - boulangerie, butcher, supermarket, restaurant, and of course a bar… It also had the benefit of being just far enough off the main tourist trail to be tranquil and relaxing in high season. The area around St Pompon is also fantastic for walking, and mountain or road biking, with lots of very well marked routes being very easy to follow.
David is the perfect host, totally unobtrusive, but a font of knowledge about the local area, with great recommendation for places to visit and to dine when asked, and more than happy to find out about things he doesn’t already know about.
While we were staying we canoed and swam in the Dordogne, visited some of the prettiest towns and villages we’ve ever seen, had a day trip to Toulouse, ate at some lovely restaurants, relaxed on the terrace, drank far too much local wine, sat at the village bar and watched the world go by, been to the village fete, and above all, walked many, many miles in beautiful countryside. A perfect holiday – just what we were looking for.

“Exactly what you hope for in a French Gite!”
Reviewed 8 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

The pictures online really don't do this property justice. David has done an amazing job of restoring this historic, French farmhouse and turning it into accommodation that is well appointed, really comfortable and exactly what you envisage when you say that you're going to stay in a cottage in France.

Starting each day with a cuppa on the terrace and returning each night for a glass of red was the perfect accompaniment for days spent exploring all the historic towns of the Dordogne.

It doesn't hurt that Maison des Fleurs is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is a short walk in to the town of Saint Pompon which has all the amenities that you could need. Although saint Pompon isn't one of the better known historic towns of the Dordogne it is a really pretty little town and it is definitely worth a walk around it's back streets.

David is very respectful of his guests privacy but if you need any suggestions he's full of great ideas for things to do with your days...

We had a brilliant holiday!
