We chose the guided tour and were lucky enough to get ?? as a guide. (Why can’t I remember his name??) However, if your tour guide looks like Robert Irvine, chef and TV personality, take a sigh of relief, you’re in for a great tour. I apologize to the tour guide that I forgot his name, but he was excellent. He relayed many stories and we almost felt as if we were there when Edison and Ford were. As a warning, most everything with the guided tour is outside, so dress appropriately, lather up the sunscreen and hydrate. I bought a nice sun-hat in the gift shop! The grounds were well maintained and it was sad to hear the devastating effect Hurricane Irma had on the grounds last year. We were told that we could come back within a week and the audio tour would be free. We ended up returning the next day and there was some confusion over the ‘free’ audio tour, but eventually that was straightened out. We enjoyed strolling the grounds and listening to the audio tour. The inside museums (air-conditioned!!) were interesting, but there is a lot to see in one day, if you enjoy reading the displays. We look forward to returning and may take one of the specialty tours.
