My husband spend 2 wonderful days and nights in Dunfanaghy recently. We stayed at the Shandon hotel and it was brilliant. We had to move rooms for the second night and they upgraded us to a suite. The rooms were beautiful and the view from the hotel was magnificant. The staff at the hotel were excellent and so friendly. We enjoyed glorious sunshine and we will definitely be back to stay again.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room

A group of six of us on a weekend visit to Dunfanaghy had a quite excellent meal in the Shandon Hotel’s new a la carte Restaurant Marbles last weekend.

This restaurant is a great addition to the dining options in Dunfanaghy.

The restaurant is”silver service”. The menu is comprehensive and particularly good value at Euro 40 for all three courses with an extra small amuse-bouche of a quail’s egg,and a sorbet course after the starters.

The service is professional AND friendly.

We WILL be back.

This was our first time visiting Shandon Hotel and Spa but we will definitely be back. We could not fault this hotel in anyway.

We where allocated a room on the ground floor with a view straight over Marble Hill Strand. From reception staff, bar staff, breakfast staff and leisure centre staff everyone of them where extremely helpful as we had a wheelchair user with us. The bathroom was a disabled access one and it was great for the wheelchair user.

Bottles of water in the room where a great addition to have as we where there the first weekend in June and it was very warm.

There are outdoor play areas for children of all ages, large sized chess pieces and draughts. The outdoor terrace overlooks this and is great for parnets to keep and eye on the children whilst they are relaxing.

There is also a spa but unfortunately we did not get time to avail of this as we where only here on a one night break.

Its a great hotel to sit back and just soak in the peace and tranquillity, look out over the sea and chill.

We stayed for 2 nights B&B and we also had dinner on both evenings and the thermal suite experience . We have stayed in a few spa hotels and have to say by far the best experience we have ever had. hotel staff where so friendly, bedroom staff , bar staff waiting staff and reception staff very helpful nothing was to much trouble. The view is outstanding. the thermal spa was so relaxing... I honestly can't recommend the Shandon Hotel and Spa enough Cant wait to return .. well done Shandon

Just back from a one night stay in the Shandon. Having seen the derelict hotel on its amazing site a few years ago I have been wanting to visit since it reopened. Got a voucher for my birthday last August and just getting round to staying now. Our rooms were lovely, we had an amazing sea view, which given the brilliant weather, it was even more lovely to be able to overlook the beautiful scenery. We requested a cot, which was provided and our little girl slept really well in it. Beds were really comfortable and we had a good nights sleep, there were renovations but it didn’t annoy us as they didn’t start til 9am, and with a 14 month old we were long up at that point. Great selection for breakfast, really tasty. The guy who was working in the leisure centre was such a gentleman and honestly couldn’t do enough for us, even though we arrived just before the pool closed. Ate in the bar, service was a little slow, but the football had been on, and it was busy. Food was great, and good for families as it was quite noisy and our little girl fitted right in. Would definitely return, in fact we tried to book to stay another night but it was booked up :(
