We loved our stay in this clean and beautifully decorated beach house with everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. It was at the end of a very quite street. We love the amenities like the use of the umbrella and beach chairs as well as bicycles. It was also nice that 2 bedrooms had access to the upper deck. Just a short walk to the gorgeous the beach. We did not use the pool because of the time of year but it would be great in the warmer months.
Looks like a nice little beach house from the outside, but even before you open the front door you can sense that this is much more than that. The owners are so hospitable, and the little details in the decorations and amenities makes it clear that you are expected to really enjoy your stay. Walk with your friends or family to the private beach just a few minutes away. Load up the wagon with toys and chairs.
Just about everything you might want or need has been provided. Later, relax with a movie in the comfortable living room area. (I still can't quite believe that big screen picture?!)
This home was a couple of blocks from the beach, but a pleasant walk. We didnt cook, but the kitchen was clean and well equip. Very comfy bed and linens.
House was super clean and there was a ton of beach stuff for guests to use in the "shed".
Was convenient to restaurants and shops, but you gotta have a car. Located on a quiet cul de sac. Tiny front yard and small pool, but that suited us fine.
We especially appreciate owners who permit pets and we certainly honored the trust !We were all on our best behavior.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was beautifully decorated and comfortable, located in a cul de sac, nice and quiet. We took advantage of the pool once we had had enough at the beach each day. My nephews really enjoyed the convenience of the pool and one of them even learned to swim. The beach was gorgeous! Enjoyed the boogie boards and chairs the owners provide for use. We caught some of the bigger waves the storm produced, (thankfully it didn't ruin our stay). Anything and everything you could think of as far as restaurants and shops are just a short drive away. Highly recommend this rental!
The house is set way back on a cul-de-sac, away from through traffic, keeping it nice and peaceful. Franni was a delight to deal with, and the house itself was immaculate. Each bedroom had a smart television, good for avoiding the midday sun. The access to the private beach is nice, and the private pool is small, but still fun to have. If you stay here, you will have an entire arsenal of beach paraphernalia to enjoy. Bicycles, a kayak, wagons, body boards, and sand castle implements are all in the shed. We have children, and they enjoyed having a two-story house for a while. I got plenty of exercise running up and down the stairs inside, on the front porch, and down to the shed for the beach supplies. I would say that older folks or people who have trouble with stairs might look for more of a ground-level type deal. So many stairs. I'm getting tired thinking about them. Makes it worth it when you get to the comfortable couches in the living room!
Couple of cons. On our first morning at the beach, we sat down on the blue beach chairs, and five seconds later, a gorilla on an ATV rode up to us and grunted, "That'll be $30." I didn't know this yahoo from Adam, so I wasn't going to give him any money. We politely said, we'll just vacate your chairs, thank you. We had misunderstood and thought those were included with our beach house deal, but that was our mistake. Anyway, Franni was an absolute angel when I brought that situation up, and apologized for the ATV-riding caveman's rude behavior, even though Franni isn't even affiliated with them, explaining Doctor's Orders has its own chairs in the shed. Another con, the ducks in the swamp behind the house are super loud at night. Get used to quackquackquack all night long. Maybe bring a fan or wind machine if you don't have zen-like noise blocking powers like I've had to evolve in my life.
We drove from Texas to Florida for our vacation, unknowingly plowing right through that surprise storm with no name turning Louisiana into an island. We were stymied in Baton Rouge, dodging streets that were now lakes, adding 8 hours to our driving time, and not getting to Destin until 1 am. I only mention this because Franni and Ken were gracious enough to let us check out a day later since no families were checking in. That is some flat-out southern hospitality and world-class customer service. Thanks again to Ken and Franni for that kindness.
This was a wonderful time and in our short interactions, I can tell Ken and Franni are good folks and will do their very best that you enjoy your stay. I would definitely recommend Doctor's Orders for your next family vacation.
