Fascinating informative history of the folk of glen esk valley , lots of personal items and mementoes with a good history attached of where they came from, you won't spend hours here but you will learn about the area including a small farming museum too with many farming tools and implements

Really fascinating insight into the history of Glenesk. Well laid out. We could have spent a lot longer browsing - and shall certainly return when next visiting the area.

Glenesk is an out-of-the-way place in the eastern Highlands. The Folk Museum is set off from the village, and features the museum, a small gift shop, and an attached café/restaurant worth having a meal at. The museum is all about life in area during the 19th/early 20th centuries. It provides a look at what the rural Highlands were like over 100 years ago. It doesn't take long to go through the various exhibits, but it's definitely worth the time.

On a rainy Sunday afternoon in Glenesk this is a great way to while away some time after a coffee and sandwich in the restaurant, It doesnt cost a thing although you can contribute some pennies to the effort to keep open an important local historical museum that chronicles how the people of the glen lived. I enjoyed having a leisurely stroll through the small rooms of a typical house in the glen which brings it home how lucky we are to be living in this era. Well recommended if youre in the area
