“Fun day out”

Greenwich Polo Club
Reviewed 28 June 2018

Had a wonderful day at the Greenwich Polo Club. We arrived early to find our spot on the lawn to enjoy our snacks and drinks. We were able to secure a spot under an umbrella which still allows for others to place chairs etc in front of you. I only mention this because it can obstruct your view so I'd recommend setting up a blanket closer to the line. I will be back again to watch a full match as the one I attended was rained out.

My only complaint was that one of the food trucks there was slow and the gyros were beyond messy. I was unable to eat this without a fork. I honestly wouldn't eat there again or invite them back to the food truck line up. Wish I got the lobster roll.

The Greenwich Polo club holds polo matches open to everyone on several sundays during the summer (end of June through September). Tickets are per car, not per person and vary between $40 for lawn seating - some shade available on first come first serve basis to $60-80 per car and higher for VIP seating - which has shade and access to nicer bathrooms. It's a large polo grounds at the exclusive Conyers farm compound, and great place to picnic with family and friends while watching some of the best polo players on the field. Typically the matches at at 3pm with grounds opening at 1pm. They do have some food options (generally food trucks) - but it's best to bring your own food and drink, blankets/chairs and umbrellas and enjoy it with friends and family. Check their website - linked in the listing - for dates and also to get advanced tickets (you can pay at the gates, it's more expensive that way though).

Mallet hits ball, ball flys. Horses charge. IT is an exciting game and be sure to picnic on the lawn.

This is a place to mingle informally with the Top .01%. Located on the border between North Castle (Armonk) NY and Greenwich CT, the Polo field owned by Peter Brandt is discretely tucked inside the exclusive gates of Conyers Farm Community (Ron Howard, Tom Cruise, Justin Timberlake, Paula Zahn, et al) .

Polo matches are held there on a number of Sundays over the summer, though they are not well advertised. Those in the know - go. They are open to the public for about a $40 parking fee. Folks go with pic-nick baskets, lawn chairs and lawn tents and camp out next to the field. There are also bleachers to sit in. It is a people watching event where the latest expensive casual outfits can be seen among the well heeled visitors including the occasional royal or celebrity.

Great fun. Verrrry proper.
