We were looking for something different for our 5 yr old daughter to do. Wyatt gave us a great tour of the Mill and Tunnel. You could tell Wyatt was passionate about the history and gave a very informative and fun (lots of corny jokes) tour. It is an interesting piece of history.
After the tour Wyatt taught all of us how to pan for gold. We got our pans and went to work. We all had a few flakes of gold in our pans and the kids had a lot of fun. Highly recommend for families. I think the tour and panning made it a 2.5 hr outing.
Thank you Wyatt!

Tour a gold mill, learn about how this mill helped turn the gold ore from many mines into gold for sale. Then have the opportunity to pan for real gold. The guide guaranteed everyone a few flakes. And its true. You won't get rich panning here, but it is fun. This was a working mill into WW2.

We loved the tour! We are also a very inquisitive family. We live just 30 minutes away and I’ve had the Argo Mine tour on my bucket list for years. So this summer I asked the kids for a list of 10 things they wanted to do and a mibe tour was one of them! Sweet! This was my chance. We’ve stopped in Idaho Springs countless times on the way to and from the mountains. The Argo Mill always is a prominent feature in the Idaho Springs landscape and not until you take the Argo Mill and Mine tour will you understand more of the area’s history. The Mill is unique because almost all the equipment is still in place. You also get to venture into the first 200 ft of the 4.2 mile tunnel that drained water from 200+ mines. The engineering and the Argo Mill business model is absolutely fascinating. My 8 year old was totally enchanted! And do was I. A must see when visiting the area! Oh, and we found GOLD!

Nice family experience - had my parents and 2 boys, 8 and 11. Good information, nice guide who entertained and answered all of our questions. They teach you the proper way to pan gold as well and don't swindle you on this part! each person got a flake or 2 :-)

The entire tour was well managed, and our guide was exceptional. Extremely interesting. Panning for gold was really fun. A very unusual, historical experience.
The entry fee is a bit too high, there is no senior discount, and the child's fee is only applied up to age 10, so families might find the experience to be somewhat costly.
