Spent one night in a 2 bedroom condo at the resort. The room was immaculate and we had great views of the slope. We brought steaks from a local gourmet grocery store to cook in the condo and prepared a great family dinner that night. The kitchen was well stocked and laid out very logically. The bedroom had ceiling fans as the unit we had did not have air conditioning. I would assume this is generally not an issue as you can open the windows or deck doors to let in the cool nighttime air. The bathrooms were very nice. The shower in the main bedroom was big enough to hold a party in it. Board games were in the unit for those scarce down times as there is a lot to do at the resort. Very nice!

To start I had a good time here and any complaints are minor. Check in was quick after we showed up early and had to wait for our room to Be finished. We booked a king room which was in the center building. It’s important to understand the a lot rooms for the hotel are time shares that are not in use and are spread across the purgatory complex. Our king room was one such room which was off what I assume to be a suite. The room was very small because of this. It was ok and my only real complaint is no bathtub, but that is a preference. We did have a neighbor in said suite but they were quiet. Also note there is no a/c which left the room on the hot end most of the night even with the windows open. A large box fan is provided. The room is nice and bed comfortable.

The amenities are great our building had a rooftop hot tub with great views and also had access to the complex’s health club which had a pool. Even during the summer there were a few restaurants open and shops. Granted around 7pm the place shuts down and you are for the most part stuck where you are. This was in August so obviously not ski season! I highly recommend staying here any time of year I don’t think you will be disappointed!

We had reservations at Purgatory in June and it was a wonderful experience. Due to a huge fire, the lodge was staffed by a skeleton crew who went above and beyond. They worked and cared for our huge group while fires raged in mountain near us. The staff at Purgatory should not go unrecognized! Jill, Laura Lynn, Joe, Sam, Amber, Brett, Jamie, Curtis, Liam and Annie!

I would recommend this resort for anyone staying in the Durango area. Their hospitality and efficiency was incredible! They kept us updated on the fires and never was there a time of panic. Great crew and wonderful accommodations.

Buildings are outdated and have terrible cooling and heating. House keeping is lazy and just replaces towels. Food options are poor. The prices for food are normal, but you are definitely taken advantage of in the case that town and other options are 30 minutes away. Now there are definitely activities to do while there. Overall seems like the resort is just a place to give fort Lewis students a job .

We stayed during a very rough time for the resort as they were dealing with the 416 fire. As a motorcycle club with over a hundred members present, we were treated like family, the following staff members were very gracious, and I hope I don't forget any one, Jill, Laura Lynn, Joe, Sam, Amber, Brett, Jaime, Curtis, Liam, and Annie. These folks were under a lot of pressure as the resort was low on staff due to road closures. These folks still made our trip and stay one of the most memorable ever and we are so appreciative.

Room tip: Upgrade to a one bedroom suite, they are very nice.
