I was staying nearby and on the recommendation of the owner of Meadowland Farm B&B, I drove into Dolton which was only 3 kms away along the usual narrow Devon roads.
There is a small parking area immediately in front of the Inn but that will fill up quickly. Additional free parking is in a new community parking area down a lane way adjacent to the Community Hall on the right just past the Inn (unless they have widened the entrance to the lane way be careful as the first couple of feet are very narrow).
When I arrived the inn was already 'rocking' as it is obviously very popular with the locals which is great to see. The inn has that wonderful old feeling being a restored 17th Century Coaching Inn.
Ordered Fillet steak and was impressed how well it was cooked. The whole experience was great topped off with the sticky date pudding which I can never refuse.
All in all, a wonderful plus for the community.

My wife and I popped in for a quick snack lunch, my wife tried the scotch egg and I enjoyed the best mackerel salad I have ever eaten anywhere.

The new owners certainly know how to meet and greet with very different type of pub food.

Give them a try, you will be impressed.

The food was excellent and the staff helpful and cheery but be wary of staying in the Stafford Suite because its right above the bar and we could hear on a Saturday every word in the bar below until 3am which was hardly ideal while in the middle of a long cycling trip. I appreciate someone has to have a room right above the bar but in this case the sound insulation is non existent. A real shame as otherwise a great venue.
