Had a wonderful, relaxing time with circa 1980 softball team. We did some hiking although we had some drizzly, rainy and some nice weather. Checked out all the possibilities for our future annual trips. Not having cell, Internet or tv was great! The beds were so comfy, I think the combination let most of us sleep without our heads spinning with tv,cell or on our tablets. The colors of fall were amazing! Can't wait to tell anyone who will listen.
12 of us women have been getting together for over 41 years. We started as friends with softball. We travel a couple times a year, & this without a doubt has been the most beautiful place we've stayed. Just not enough time to get everything done. But our hiking on this piece of paradise was awesome. Managers, Lora & Marco were most delightful & more than accommodating.
Beyond perfect. Marco & Lora are amazing people and made our special day so perfect. They even came and enjoyed the festivities with us which meant so much to us.
The location of the Almay Ranch is perhaps its greatest asset! The tall pines, the shorter hardwoods, the abundance of water, water water...(especially in the path of my golf balls!). The absolute quiet and cool breeze during sleep times, the comfortable and attractive furnishings, the helpful and friendly managers, the kitchens and the abundant food storage spaces. The everlasting beauty of the house and the lake from the deck. The list goes on and on.
You can play all day if you like, and rest any time you desire....but I had very little time for rest because of all the options available for 'play'!
Pool, hiking, swimming, fishing, golf, bonfire for smores and more, table games, boating, photography opportunities galore, eating on the deck overlooking the lake and hardly any bugs at all. The abundance of bats at nite and swallows in the daytime keep the mosquitoes under control.
Some of our group sighted a bear, there was also one rattlesnake seen which slithered away quickly. (The bear took a long slow look, then turned and left the scene quietly). Spotted eagles, geese, ducks, turtles, frogs, fish, raccoons, several beautiful butterflies, stars in theheavens that seemed close enough to touch, and a real treat two days in a row....THUNDERSTORMS...we just sat on the covered deck and enjoyed the show.
The sleeping facilities were roomy and very comfy.....
In short we all, 14 of us, enjoyed everything this remarkeable place had to offer.
Thanx to Lora and Marco for keeping the place in pristine condition. It takes a lot of hard work to keep up with a place this large, and they do a great job of it.
Wonderful time spent with girlfriends who have been getting together for over 35 years. We loved the house, deck, surrounding water and creeks. We didn't have enough time to fit in all there was to do. We went swimming, played golf, hiked and went boating. We loved it. Lora was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with.
