We stayed at Simpson House Inn for two nights for our wedding anniversary. Before our stay, we honestly thought the place was somewhat overpriced for a B&B stay, but we soon realized that every single penny we spent did worth it.
#1. My wife suffered from some serious morning sickness, but her symptoms faded away during our stay at the Simpson House, thanks to the fresh air coming from the gorgeous garden. We regret not having spent more time at the garden, which was really well-maintained. The only downside was the missing pool, but the we were told that they plan to make one some time in the near future.
#2. The room itself (I believe it was a cottage) was very satisfying. Comfortable bed, beautiful interior, high-speed internet, and good air-conditioning system. The view from the room was also great.
#3. The breakfast and the snacks offered around dinner time were really good. The menu seemed to change every day, and the service they provided was just exceptional. They also serve wine during the dinner snack time.
I plan to re-visit this property some time in the future when we visit Santa Barbara, and I would highly recommend others to give it a try.

Beautiful B&B, feels like miles from hustle bustle of downtown Santa Barbara. Our second visit. Customer service and amenities can't be beat. All staff try to meet your unique needs and treat you with TCL. Looking forward to next visit as I am sure we will return. The Simpson House charm has swept us in. Thank you to everyone.

Room Tip: Stay in original house or adjacent cottages. All lovely and immaculately appointed.

My husband and I stayed in the Plumstead Cottage for two nights as part of a pacific coast highway trip. The Inn and the Cottage were absolutely charming -- very serene setting with lovely grounds. The rate for the Cottage was high -- this was a real splurge for us as it was far more costly than other inns and resorts on our stop, but the Cottage was beautifully appointed, and there is also a good deal of wonderful food and wine included in the room rate. Breakfast was wonderful and we loved having wine and hors d'ouevres included at the end of the day -- sitting on the wrap around porch was really relaxing. While this part of Santa Barbara is not near the water, my husband and I are avid walkers and we found it to be a nice stroll into town for stores and restaurants, and we walked the two miles down to the pier for exercise rather than taking our car. I will note that we're very active physically, so carrying our bags from the car back to the cottage wasn't an issue. If you have physical infirmities, this cottage wouldn't be a good fit for you, as there were many stairs, and this is a quaint B & B -- while the service is very nice, you need to be a bit self sufficient on arrival and departure.

Room Tip: Cottages are lovely but may have stairs, etc. to navigate.

We stayed in the Garden Cottage, which I highly recommend, so quaint and adorable. Comfortable bed. Bathroom could use some more hooks to hang things on but that's not such a negative that I wouldn't consider returning. The breakfast served on the veranda was delightful. Best thing ever is the afternoon wine tasting and hors d'ouervres! The selection, presentation and yumminess is fantastic!

Room Tip: Garden cottages offer more privacy and are so quaint.
