I had read a bunch of other reviews that talked about horrible service. I forewarned my family before we got there that poor service may be an issue. We ended up having amazing service.

We were seated very quickly and had a view of the ocean. The restaurant was t crowded inside, but the bar seemed to have quite a few people in it. The deck outside filled up after we arrived.

We were told that they were out of heavy cream and that most of their soups and a few other items were unavailable. I asked about the clam chowder, this is, after all, a chowder house, and was told that they had it. Well, it wasn't great. It was watery, with a bland taste. A couple of us had ordered cups of it and others ordered big bread bowls of it. It wasn't tasty. I ordered their fish and chips and onion rings. The onion rings were delicious! The fish was decent. My husband had French fries with his fish. They were just ok.

Our drinks were refilled numerous times, we were asked a couple of times how things were going, and our server seemed to feel the pace of our meal and brought boxes and the check at just the right time. I just wish that the food was as good as the service.

Long drive for average food. Don't make the trip unless your already in the area. The best thing was the mozzarella cheese sticks.

Great little place right off the pier with friendly atmosphere and the food was good! Will suggest the flat iron steak dish.....my husband thought it was tops! Friendly staff checked on us frequently.

We found this gem after seeing the Point Arena Light. The claim chowder in the sour dough bread bowl was unbeatable! The people were the greatest. Loved it!

Upstairs from Uneda Pizza. Nice views of the tiny Point Arena harbor from our window table. Service was a little slow, but the food quantity and quality were excellent. Caesar salad to share worked well with our individual seafood linguinis. The linguini was loaded with fresh and perfectly cooked clams, mussels, shrimp and rock cod. There's an extensive beer and wine list with many local offerings. Don't hesitate to visit the Pier Chowder House - even if it's just for a beer or a glass of wine. It's an excellent choice in Point Arena.
