Although hazy the view of the mountains were pleasant. Decor was rather bland, however service was good. The scallops with prosciutto and the salmon was excellent. Wine list was adequate. Menu was varied from appetizers, to burgers to interesting entrees.

We had not been to Escena for awhile, so my wife Linda and I and our good friends decided to have dinner here after golf. The ambiance here is wonderful with a beautiful, mid-century modern designed dining room and bar. There are outstanding views of the San Jacinto mountain's and alfresco dining is a great option when the weather is good. The food this particular evening, as in the past, was outstanding! My wife had the salmon, one friend a chef's salad, and the other friend and myself the short ribs. Linda said the mustard glazed salmon was amongst the best she has had, served with a buttery savoy cabbage and basmati rice. The short ribs were fork tender served over mushroom buttered egg noodles...also the best I have ever had! The chef's salad was a generous portion, and very good as well. All entrees were very generous portions. Our compliments to the chef!! The service was excellent and the Washington State cabernet we had was very good and reasonably priced as well. When visiting Palm Springs, the downtown restaurants are nice, but make your way out here a few miles away for some beautiful views and excellent food! Also, with restaurant prices going up these days, the value for the quality of entrees here should be a strong consideration.

Play the Escena course and then have lunch. There is a full bar and a good menu for lunch. There is outdoor seating as well as indoor and the place is quite large. No need to make reservations for lunch. The food is plentiful and you will be happy that you had lunch there. Playing golf is not necessary, if you are in the Palm Springs area, stop in for lunch at Escena.

The Martini's were perfection. Great views. Just a generally nice place to spend an afternoon. The house made chips with chipotle sauce was a real treat.
