I wished that the room was as updated as the lobby. The lobby had a modern/chic feel to it but the rooms smelled like the 1980s.
The room was big enough, clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower could have used more water pressure. Also, the shower was clogged from the first day we were there.
Our experience with Courtyard Palm Desert was up and down. We were greeted by a very friendly lady at the front desk when we checked-in. The check in process was very easy. She even handed us snacks for being Elite members. The rest of the service however was not good--we had two other interactions with the staff and it was really bad service.
We came in after the festival early Saturday morning and decided to ask the guy in the front desk a couple of questions on our way up to the room. We explained to him that the shower was clogged and asked if someone could come up and fix it. Without hesitation he said that there wasn't anyone there that could go up and that we should have told them earlier. I wondered what would happen in an emergency at that hotel. We asked him about late check out and without checking or being helpful said that they weren't offering any late check outs. He didn't give us any options.
We decided to call the front desk in the morning to ask about late check out and the lady told us that there was no late check out option but we could check out at 2pm for an additional $50 charge. It didn't make sense to me that they didn't offer late check out but they would for a $50 fee--I asked to have a supervisor call our room.
A few minutes later, the supervisor at the time explained the same thing--they cant offer a late check out but could for a $50 charge. She explained that there was a large group coming in so we couldn't check out late....BUT...we could check-out late for a $50 charge. I explained to her that i didn't understand how we cant do late check out because there was a big group coming but could check out late for a $50 charge...what would the $50 charge magically accomplish??? She mentioned that the fee was a charge set by their sales team. I asked her to wave it as a manager because it was clearly a ridiculous charge. She said that the sales team wouldn't allow them her to waive it. She did however offer to allow us to check out by 1:30pm w/out a charge so we thanked her for that.
I appreciated the supervisor's willingness to give us an option but the $50 charge left a bad taste in my mouth. If management reads this--either allow late check-out or not. Don't offer a late check out fee that doesn't make sense and makes loyal customers upset. I knew that Stagecoach was next week and people from all over the place would be coming in. I would have understood that a late check-out would have been difficult but the $50 fee is just plain stupid.

We do have a maintenance person on-call throughout all hours of the day. Typically late checkouts are permitted however on certain days we can only allow Gold and Platinum Marriott members to utilize a later checkout. Charging for late checkouts is not something customary to our property and we will be looking into the situation as the information was not correct. Had our 3 night stay here booked months ago, as part of our Kauai trip. We stay in Palm Desert on the way home. Lucky us. Arrived after 12:00 a:m. Saw the Residence Inn sign. Asked the very nice check in man to call to see if they had rooms. It is a holiday weekend.
We stayed here 1 night. Went next door. Wanted more room. No penalty was charged , we are elite silver. Courtyard was fine, typical. I laugh, how much can the courtyard charge? Location location we would stay here again, if necessary, kindness is rewarded.

The rates for the area fluctuate depending on events in the area and season of the year. Our rates are on par with the surrounding hotels throughout Palm Desert and the Palm Springs area. We were originally confirmed at the Renaissance Palm Desert but when we arrived, the girl at the front desk said they were overbooked so they made us an "offer"': she said if we go next door to the Courtyard, they would take $50 off our room and give us a pool view and we could still come back to them in the AM and have the breakfast.thatbsound like a good deal. Our room at the courtyard was not that big although they said this room was larger since it was a corner room. The light started to flicker in the vanity area where the sink is. I had to call downstairs twice to get an engineer to come up. That was Sunday am. The room was clean, not immaculate but the quality of the coffee for the coffeemaker sucked and I could not drink it. I would not go back here again.

The coffee in the room is the standard amenity offered by the Courtyard brand however we do have coffee at our Bistro available for purchase 24/7. Average hotel and little pricey for what you get. Rooms are nice and clean, bathroom is average. No microwave or refrig. in room. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Balcony. Flat screen TV, coffee maker in room. Lobby is large. Receptionist are friendly and great service. We checked in and out using the mobile app. Great feature. Heated pool with two small Jacuzzi . Bistro open for breakfast and dinner. Small. Applebee's within walking distance. Other restaurants about 15 minutes away. Tennis courts on site. We went to the Palm Springs Tram and it was about 20 to 25 minutes away. Recommend if you are coming to this area. Arrived at least 90 minutes before when you want to leave on the tram.Great view of the surrounding area.

We needed a hotel during our attendance at the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament during the last weekend. The hotel is approximately six miles from the Indian Wells Tennis Garden so the rentals car mileage was good . Our check in went well and a complimentary breakfast was provided. The voucher did not cover much on the menu so be prepared to provide additional money for breakfast items on the menu. The staff in the bistro were friendly and went above and beyond to take our orders. The breakfasts that we ordered tasted great each day of our stay.
