We loved this zoo and the beauty that surrounds this zoo. We received a tour of the animal hospital and saw a fox receiving an physical exam. My teenager loved the model train exhibit. I would highly recommend this zoo.

Living Desert Zoo and Garden is a perfect stop to see the beauty of the desert. I, myself have visited a couple of times either with family or friends. I've enjoyed it so much because its not just a zoo and garden it also has trails to hike. I highly recommend this place.

A fun experience for children and adults alike. Unfortunately one of the exciting draws was to be “the camel rides” but told that was closed as it was too windy—for the riders or the camels???? The camels were sitting very contentedly in their gated community so not really sure which.
A visit to the parrot house proved exciting and much fun creating screams from Mums or anyone carrying the nectar. (Do buy the nectar and be aware of the onslaught of birds) No humans or birds were injured during this experience.
Some other highlights were the feeding of the giraffe, a visit to the rec-centre where a talk about the live eagle the handler had with her, and the general viewing of the wild animals basically in their inhabitants.
The visit is not inexpensive for a family but is certainly a nice days outing. Except the day we attended was an unusually cold, windy, miserable day and the usual leisurely hike was very l-o-n-g!!!
One major criticism, the food offering in “the Hut” is disgusting and really needs to be reviewed. So many people walked out without ordering and what was to be lunch became a drink stop only. Shame as it could be very successful but not without work.
Have to give praise to the amount contributed by the volunteers so nice to see results from their dedication, well done!

Visiting Palm Springs area and wanted to have a few adventures planned. This fit the bill. This is a nice zoo. We spent 3 hours checking things out. As with most animals, they are more active in the morning, but the exhibits are set up well to see the animals regardless of time. You can feed giraffes or ride the camels. They also have a huge model train display that is neat.

Stopped by the Living Desert Museum during our trip to Palm Desert and it did not disappoint. It’s not huge do it’s easy to see most of the animals and plants in a couple of hours. The garden are well cared for and have various sculptures of the animals in the park in the gardens. The museum does a nice job of identifying the various plants. The animals were my favorite part especially the cat breeds. I really enjoyed watching the Cheetah run, they are such beautiful animals. There are several folks that work at the park that are happy to answer questions. Additionally, they have several talks throughout the day for various animals. This is a great activity for the young and old and everyone in between.
