I have written a positive review in the past while the restaurant was under the former management. Based on past experience I reserved a table for 5 during the 52nd annual boat light parade. We were seated as per our time and waters came fairly quickly. We brought our own wine and were informed of the corkage fee. The wine was poured within an acceptable amount of time.

From there everything went downhill. Let’s start with minimal staff; it was every event they were way understaffed as servers were running around trying to manage several large parties. Our reservation was 7:15 pm. By 7:30 pm we had water, our wine poured and food ordered. That was completely acceptable.

By 7:50 pm we lost our server to making a propane run for the outdoor heaters. We asked the young lady filling our water if we could get some bread and our starters. She said that she would check. She returned at 8:05 pm to say we are busy it will be just a few more minutes. At 8:00 pm a large group of 12 came in and were seated close by. One from that group got up and was searching for propane for the heaters, by 8:10 pm he gave up.

By 8:19 pm we watched our server return to the area with two bottles of propane. While he was installing propane, bread came for the large party of 12. We asked politely where was our bread and starters. He acknowledged our question with a headhake and returned to serving the other party.

At 8:27 pm we decided after asking nicely several times and not receiving our starters to leave. As we were leaving, the manager or owner who knows came out of the kitchen and tried to apologize but gave no real effort to save our business. I have never been so ignored and witness such a lack of service as this incident.

We have experienced busy brunch, other special events and each of those busy times there was enough servers to handle the crowd. This one instance has me never wanting to return, I will not support something so easy to remedy. What a shame as we mourn the loss of customer service. On a side not it all stared with no Roxy to geet us :(

Visited the restaurant early on Sunday morning just after opening. Had a delicious brunch of scrambled eggs and vegetables with a bowl of fruit. Scenery was gorgeous and the outdoor partio is a great place to people-watch. Awesome service - thank you Keri!

Uh oh, let's be careful here. My wife and I and all of our local friends have loved the Waterside for years. We have also grown to love the staff members who have been with the restaurant for a long time. But it changed hands a couple of months ago (we were out of town) and the times they are a'changin'. We fear, not for the better. Please, new owners, take stock of what has made this restaurant at the end of the peninsula a local favorite, or you risk losing your local clientele - your only clientele: You don't get many tourists down here.

The first hint of trouble was the new chardonnay wine list, all two of them: The new "house wine" - Sycamore Creek - is an insult to even house wines. Can you scrape any lower in the barrel than that? And then the only other chard on the menu is Hess, at a stunning $13 a glass or $48 a bottle. Say what? And the standard reds are being replaced too, luckily we were able to get what remained of a long time favorite Rhiannon, but what we learned of the new reds is not at all impressive.

Happy hour has been a real draw for this restaurant, with a decent house red and decent house chard. We have often gone over for happy hour, had a couple of glasses of wine and stayed for dinner. I can guarantee with the new selection, your happy hour will be less than happy. Five bucks a glass for a wine that's five bucks a bottle is not a happy deal.

And on a usually packed Friday night with the very best entertainment, we could tell the ambiance had changed, not all of the tables were full. That was telling.

And please don't pull that trick of keeping the current staff on for a while and then booting them. If you do, we will boot ourselves as well. The familiar faces at the Waterside are the Waterside. We care about the staff members we have come to know, and on the weekends, we come for the entertainers with whom we also have personal relationships.

You have the opportunity to keep this a happy neighborhood place that can also draw from the outside. I sincerely hope you take it. I'm listing the buttons below as "Not Sure" because I do not know where you are headed with what has been a long time favorite.

This is the second time we have dined here. There are 3 seating areas. Outside last night, despite the cold, the patio was packed with diners listening to live music. Indoors, in the sports bar area, there are some communal tables and a lively atmosphere. In the back, there are quiet tables with water views. We sat there again in the intimate subdued area. The food was excellent. I enjoyed the salmon entree while my husband had the shrimp scampi. He ate bread pudding and I the tiramisu. I drank moscato and he raved about the house red wine, a cabernet from Napa, we were told. Service was attentive.

The restaurant changed owners a few weeks ago, and there have been some subtle changes. The $6 per glass special on open bottles of wine on Sunday has been discontinued. The bread served with dinner is no longer the wonderful grainy bread, but is an acceptable white french flute. The printed menu is the same, but the specials seem more varied, and the ones we have tried are very good.

One persistent problem is the level of noise at the restaurant. On the patio, the music is often too loud (though that did not seem to be the case on our most recent visit, so perhaps management has gotten the message). However, if one is seated inside anywhere near the bar, expect that as the patrons get "looser" they will also become louder. At one point there was a group of 6 standing at the corner of the bar, talking loudly and laughing. We don't have a problem with people having a good time, but those at the tables between the window and the bar were challenged to carry on a conversation. Perhaps with the transition in ownership, changes will be made so that the bar seating better separated from the dining seating.

All in all, the wine choices are good, the food seems well prepared and reasonably priced, service is attentive, and the setting (waterside in a marina) is relaxing. The only reason for 4 stars is the noise level, but that may not be something that bothers others.
