The Dick Smith Wilderness and the Sespe is a huge area of utter isolation in a very bust state. The creek is relaxing in a Zen way and the entire area is a great relief from the crowded life that surrounds it. Well worth the trouble to get there.

Follow the creek to the waterfalls. Or perhaps simply enjoy the oak trees and wild flowers. Great place for a short stroll or a longer hike. Bring water and a picnic.

Anyone can do this one. The whole trail is long (8miles), but we only did the portion to the white rocks which is about 2.5 mile round trip. So you can choose which way to go, there are lots of options with nice views.

This is a nice family trail and a nice backpacking trail as well. If you go to this trail at the right time of year preferably after a good rain you can find that the river is full of water and if the water level is high enough for a long time the native rainbow trout spawn and come out. The trail is a nice family trail for small children as well because the trail was an old road in the forest because there used to be camping spots that you could drive out to.

Hiking the Sespe River is great fun. Seems it is not well known as ee pretty much always have it to ourselves. Very dry these days as is most of California.
