We came upon this diner one evening after walking around Jack London Square. This place serves American dishes typical of this type of restaurant. I had a bowl of the soup of the day, and to my surprise, this Minestrone--made with chunks of meat--was just delicious and a meal in itself! The waitress was really friendly (hi, Brenda!). We also ordered the fish and chips, which were plentiful. There are other places around within walking distance with varied and specialized menus, but Buttercup offers downright good eats for not a lot of money!
