Booked through Groupon with a good price. At the small checkin desk the person gave us a warm welcome. The room overlooked the river as booked. The room had missing cheap blinds for the window/door to the balcony, No curtains on the windows/door. The bathroom sliding door was difficult to open and close. The restaurant was closed. The breakfast was a very limited buffet. The bed was comfortable. The owner walked around in the morning in her dressing gown. The hotel location is good but it is needs rennovation. There is limited availability of good hotels in the area.

Room Tip: Room with a view

The absolute worst customer service experience. Ever.
Booked the room thru Groupon over two months in advance only to be told by the owner, JH, on our arrival here that "the room is broken" and that she had instead booked us in a nearby motel that turned out to be a very low end place. When we returned to talk this over, she turned abusive, refused to engage in a civil discussion to resolve the problem and pointed finger at Groupon for "Overbooking" - never mind the initial reason of "Room is broken". Her vulgar abusive tone and language was a new abyss in the area of customer service and while the rest of the staff maybe just fine, so long as Judy remains the owner, this is simply not a place worth booking.
Never in our lives have either of us encountered such utter lack of basic civility from anyone in the hospitality business, let alone meet any decent standards of Customer Service.
Extremely disappointed in Village Inn & Restaurant at Monte Rio, California. It has a great location no doubt, but the demeanor of the owner is the absolute worst. Not worth it - look elsewhere !

In need of a major remodel. Room felt like a motel 6. Mine and my husband's back and neck hurt from the uncomfortable beds and pillows ( thick pillows). The breakfast included is very sad . Just hardboiled eggs and cereal. Would never come back or recommend.

Dined here recently. As others have noted, incredibly slow service. Upon sitting, ordered our wine and then begged three times to get it !! Service very courteous if pokey. Food pretty good, not memorable. Prices on the high end. (They charge for a small basket of bread.) This place has ambiance to spare with a deck to overlook the river. Gave it 4 stars because overall a nice experience, especially since the noise level is LOW. No blaring background music, thank you very much !! A lovely, quiet slow dinner.

Stayed here with one of my girlfriends was a pleasant surprise did not expect it to be like it was however we had absolutely no cell phone service which I can't say was a bad thing did not eat at the restaurant but it looked very cute outside is totally relaxing there was quite a bit to do in the little downtown but again with no cell phone service because AT&T does not have a tower nearby we were basically walking around but found some very cool places to go the hotel itself is old but very cute it's more like a bed and breakfast owner or whomever she was was very nice had some great suggestions on where to visit bed was very comfortable view was nicr.cute and fit the need and price.
