My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a trip to Universal Studios over Spring Break. We knew it would be busy, so we bought the Express pass which gets you 1 express entry to each ride. Although this was very expensive ($239 each that day), we did not want to spend all day waiting in lines. We also got early entry as part of the deal for purchasing our tickets online.
We especially loved the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and visiting The Simpsons in Springfield. Watching a child find the perfect wand in Ollivander’s brought a tear to both our eyes and we had a blast drinking Duff Beer and a Flaming Moe at Moe’s bar. The tram tour of the Studios was great too. With the express pass we never waited more than 5 minutes in a line, which was pretty incredible considering some of the regular lines were 70 minutes long.
We were impressed with the cleanliness of the park and the friendliness of the employees. Universal Studios is a relatively small park that has made the most of its space by using a lot of virtual reality type rides that make it feel like you’re on a roller coaster, but you really don’t travel very far. The rides were fun, but I probably wouldn’t need to ride them over and over again. Another thing was the lack of ability to refill sodas. It seems silly, but after paying $3.39 for a drink you would think I would be able to get a refill. There is a chip in the bottom of the cup that prevents the soda machine from refilling. Does soda really cost that much?
Overall, we had a great time that day. We both agree we probably don’t need to go back anytime soon, but we were glad we went to experience it.
