My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a trip to Universal Studios over Spring Break. We knew it would be busy, so we bought the Express pass which gets you 1 express entry to each ride. Although this was very expensive ($239 each that day), we did not want to spend all day waiting in lines. We also got early entry as part of the deal for purchasing our tickets online.
We especially loved the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and visiting The Simpsons in Springfield. Watching a child find the perfect wand in Ollivander’s brought a tear to both our eyes and we had a blast drinking Duff Beer and a Flaming Moe at Moe’s bar. The tram tour of the Studios was great too. With the express pass we never waited more than 5 minutes in a line, which was pretty incredible considering some of the regular lines were 70 minutes long.
We were impressed with the cleanliness of the park and the friendliness of the employees. Universal Studios is a relatively small park that has made the most of its space by using a lot of virtual reality type rides that make it feel like you’re on a roller coaster, but you really don’t travel very far. The rides were fun, but I probably wouldn’t need to ride them over and over again. Another thing was the lack of ability to refill sodas. It seems silly, but after paying $3.39 for a drink you would think I would be able to get a refill. There is a chip in the bottom of the cup that prevents the soda machine from refilling. Does soda really cost that much?
Overall, we had a great time that day. We both agree we probably don’t need to go back anytime soon, but we were glad we went to experience it.

Thank Lauren P

My family of 4 did the VIP studio tour which included an unlimited express pass. We had early entry to Universal and then got to go straight to VIP lounge for an included breakfast. Food was plentiful. We met our guide Georgie (who was fabulous) and started our tour promptly at 8:45. The VIP bus and studio tour was amazing. We got out of the bus multiple times to explore the sets and studios. A fun mixture of old and new Hollywood. My kids (10 & 13) loved it. After the tour it was onto the lower lot for rides (Jurassic Park/Transformers/Mummy). This was followed by a delicious VIP included lunch buffet at Moulin Rouge. More rides at the upper lot (Despicable Me, Walking Dead) and then reserved Waterworld show seats. Capped off the tour with the 2 Harry Potter rides and wand fitting. We then were left to our own devices for the day at around 3:00 with unlimited express rides. So worth it. For example the posted wait time on Harry Potter Forbidden Journey was 120 minutes and we never waited longer than 10. I think we did that ride alone 7 times. We went on all of the rides multiple times and watched the special effects tour on our own. Overall an excellent experience start to finish. It will be tough to do a theme park any other way.

I took my son here for his 16th birthday and they offered to upgrade our tickets to the VIP Experience and we paid the difference between the tickets. We were shown to a separate area and the VIP Experience began. Fresh full continental continental breakfast while we waited for our tour to begin. Unlimited Passes to the front of the line for the entire day. Guides took us in a personal tour of the studios and some of the sets. 5 Star lunch. Guided us to special seating for the best of the shows and rides. If you only have one day to see everything - this is definitely the way to go.

Universal Studio is a wonderful place, and one must plan it while in LA. Young children may get bit bored, but else you are going to have a great time. There might be longe wait time for rides 1hr or may be.... depends on your day and season...so plan your day.
First book the tickets online, it will save lot of time and download Universal Studio’s official app. This is a wonderful app which will make your day great. You can plan your itinerary, check live wait time, and set and reminder for rides, live shows.
Start your say early, and make sure you are there before 9am if you want to finish all in one day. Start your day with Harry Potter ride, which is best and will have upto 2hrs wait time if you are late there. We were early there and got only 15mins wait time.
With that, Transformers, Mummy, Jurrasic park rides will have upto 1hr wait time.
Bus tour is also great, and can have upto 1+ hr wait time.
Studio is in two levels, upper and lower, and going from one place to another takes time. Levels details are on map and app, so plan accordingly. We were able to finish all by 03:00pm, by starting our day at 09:00am by doing things in below sequence-
Harry Potter, Minion, Transformers, Mummy, Jurrasic, Bus Tour, Water world, Special effect show.
