My girlfriend and I stumbled across this beautiful lake while visiting Yosemite. The visitor center was very informative and clean. We hiked down to the lake and enjoyed taking pics and relaxing. I would definitely recommend coming here.

The story behind this lake is very humbling and poignant...how nature can be destroyed by actions that were never thought through. It is eerily beautiful and fascinating. Great hike, but was a little too hot for our dog even though temps were in the mid 70's. Lots of history and educational. Must see!

Came here via the Tioga Pass, enjoying Tuolumne Meadows & Olmsted Point on the way. Less crowded than the main Park itself, though it can be super hot in summer, especially coupled with the altitude. There is simply no shade. Bring water & hats or come early or late, but don’t let that stop you from a visit. Photos of the Tufas are amazing. Others have said & I echo the sentiment that you feel as though on another planet here. You won’t see topography like this anywhere else in the world.

Many tourists enter Yosemite through the entrance near Mono Lake, but fail to visit this beautiful and unique natural resource. There is a short hike to the lake with signs explaining what you are viewing. The Visitor Center is very informative with an extensive bookstore and clean restrooms. The tufa are especially interesting.

After Yosemite Park, we spent a night in Lee Vining in order to visit south Tufa area. Unfortunately, the weather is not good for sunset that night—so windy. We got up early next morning to see sunrise. We got some nice pictures there. I would definitely visit there again. By the way, plenty space for parking and have restroom. It is easy to walk from parking lot to lake.
