Owner description: It was supposed to be a children's pool, but the harbor seals took over and it's a main tourist and local attraction. Great picture spot.

This was the best location to see the seals. Recommend going early to get a parking spot. Stay as long as you want, it was fun just watching the activity of the seals.

We visited in the early evening on a weekday, and seemed to hit a sweet spot. Parking was easy to find and the beach wasn’t crowded.

It’s a beach with limited space- surrounded on both sides by cliffs and a man made pier/jetty. I imagine the beach area can get crowded in the high times, especially given its in a touristy area.

My daughter loves dipping her feet in the water as the waves rolled in. While the beach area is secluded from direct wave action, there still was some significant activity. Hold onto your kids.

No sealions, sharks or Ogopogos when we visited.

If kids like water, sand, marine life (seals, sea lions, crabs, little fish) this is a good spot. Tidal pools on the rocks were cool, too. Would not recommend the rocks for really little kids/toddlers. Protected from big waves, it’s a good spot. Glad we took our kids there. It’s obviously why kids have been taken there for generations. A sign on the stairs says it was dedicated in the 1930’s.

Beautiful area on the pacific ocean originally developed as a safe swimming area for young children, but now taken over by the seals and the sea lions. Fascinating to watch the animals play, swim and just lounge.

We went to see the seals but unfortunately there wasn’t many around while we were there. We seen a few close to shore. The water was freezing but the views were amazing!!
