Owner description: Fort Bragg, CA, has the highest concentration of sea glass in the world. Founded by Capt. Cass Forrington, a retired former deep sea captain, who scours Fort Bragg’s three world famous glass beaches for their rare and beautiful treasures, the Sea Glass Museum is the world’s largest permanent sea glass display with over 3,000 artifacts on display. The Sea Glass Museum is one of the most popular and beautiful attractions on the Mendocino coast and is a must see for children of all ages! Even grumpy faces leave the museum smiling. Be sure to stop in before visiting the beaches to get directions to the best sea glass locations, not only in Fort Bragg, but all along the Mendocino coast.

This is the stuff that if you could be there first, you could be bringing home! Nice Sea glass. I think they have a legend about it. If you find Sea glass, something special will happen.

We wish we dropped by before going to the actual Glass Beach. Captain Cass gave us great tips about the different sites (Site #2 has more to see), the rules regarding keeping the glass, and "seeding" more glass chunks on the beach. As a former sailor and current Fort Bragg resident, he really does care about the Glass Beach.

Plus, the museum is free!

A nice spot to stop by. Small area of displays and gift shop and owner available for questions, too.

This is a true tourist trap. although the "Museum" part has some interesting stuff, including "sea glass", the gift shop is where they want you. You give a donation to see the glass and then they pressure you to buy an over priced item in the gift shop.

They shared the best places to look for beach glass and you could take glass to add to the beach with you, so you don't feel guilty about taking some of what little glass is left.
