Owner description: A mere two-mile drive from cosmopolitan, downtown San Diego, across one of the world's most distinctive bridges, is Coronado Island - a world away. Developed in 1888 as a beach resort town, and home to the famous Hotel del Coronado, the island is blessed with one of the finest beaches in the world and bathed in endless sunshine. Coronado today is a vibrant beach community loaded with charm.

The island looks like it could be lots of fun during the warmer days. We came here at end of March and it was still cool, not too many people out. Would have loved to come here in the summer.

We have been going to Southern California for years, but I had never been here! A very unique place. The bridge to come in, the views, free parking, a very pleasant walk, some great little shops, mostly for souvenirs, and a great lunch!! And then more walking..... Lots of navy ships around, which I found interesting.
You can rent bicycles, or Kayaks in this area.
Not far from Sea World.

Coronado Island has a different feel than San Diego. There are multiple ways to explore the island...walk, bikes, surries (2 & 4 person bicycles... think golf cart with bike parts), Segways and more. You can get an Uber or taxi to get from one place to another. We took the ferry from downtown to Coronado Island for $4.75 or you can drive a car across the bridge. Things are laid back with plenty to explore.

The island has many shops, hotels, restaurants, and stores. You can visit the beach, play golf, go to the marina to do water sports or sailing, or just walk around the island. Bike and runners friendly. There are surfer’s beaches, a dog beach, beach volleyball courts, historic buildings, and naval bases. Have to visit the Hotel Del Coronado. You can access by ferry from downtown, or driving by the Coronado bridge or the strand Highway 75, or sail to one of the two marinas. Parking is a little hard to find. Better to take in one of the couple public parkings. Traffic gets crowded during the week in the morning and afternoons. A great place to visit!
