Delicious experience with great wine options. Can't wait to come back and try more menu items. The patio was romantic and beautiful!

It can be a challenge to get a reservation here, so we were delighted to get one for celebrating two very special events. I was
called the day of to confirm our reservations and the pleasant caller even confirmed our celebrations. I felt this was a good omen for a memorable evening.

Upon arriving, were seated promptly at a nice table. So far, so good. The hostess was charming. A man came to our table and started speaking. Turns out, he was our server, whom I had great difficulty understanding. He was certainly pleasant enough, but I didn't "get" the specials of the day. We opted to order from the menu. We asked about a wine list, and were told to look at the back of the menu. We placed our orders for beverages and an appetizer while we perused the menu. The wine and other beverages came quickly and the corkage service was lovely.

We ordered the Korean BBQ short rib appetizer, which came as a type of lettuce wrap. It was spectacular and was easy to split three ways (Fab, as we were a party of three). There was a bit of delay until a small flower pot of focaccia was delivered (well after we were finished with the appetizer), accompanied by a hummus like substance that Daughter said that was wonderful. The bread was tender, but cold. I felt it might have been more flavorful served warm.

Refill of wine and water was a bit on the slow side. My fork was removed and not returned until I had to ask for one after the entree were served.

The swordfish was very good, as was the accompanying grits. Veggies were served nicely al dente, but pretty tasteless. The burger was surprisingly good, with house made pickles, beautiful brioche bun and plenty of fresh vegetable condiments surrounding very tasty beef. The house made fries were just "meh", although the dipping sauce was extraordinary. The pasta with muscles, clams and shrimp was also reported as being very good and was completely consumed.

We had decided to each have a dessert, so we could try a bit of each one. The vanilla pots du creme was nothing special, although the shortbread served along side was wonderful. The flourless chocolate cake with berries was quite good. The recommended peach crisp was saved only by the quality ice cream and caramel-like crisp topping. The peaches were sliced too thick and were hard and tasteless. No peach flavor what so ever.

What disappointed me most was that the celebrant wasn't acknowledged what so ever, even after confirming our celebration beforehand. Truthfully, I was expecting better: both food and service.

Will I go back. Yes. We might have just hit a bad night, but it certainly was an expensive disappointment.

Farmhouse is a local restaurant that offers outdoor seating with a roof over the majority of the seating area meaning that there are only two walls and the open area looks over the Roger's Garden nursery. Great setting. The wait staff was excellent- friendly and knowledgeable. The food was beautifully prepared. Nice wine menu. The dining menu changes based on what the chef can get locally. The former owner of Sage, he is a skilled chef. We will definitely go back again...

On the way back from San Diego we stopted in at Roger’s nursery in Corona del mar to check out their new farmhouse restaurant at the back of the nursery. It was a nice open place lots of comfortable seating both inside and out. We only wanted take a break from driving so we only ordered a couple of ice cool adult icy beverage and a snack of potato chips. All the staff were very friendly, even let us take our small dog onto the outside patio. The bar seems to specialize in cocktails, which was fine by us, most of the customers there looked like a group shot from the housewives of Orange county.

TIP: Ask for their craft beer list of the week, we were pleasantly surprised.
