I have very divided views about this inn. We stayed for one night before flying out of San Francisco and so had limited time to assess the property. However it does feel a little bit like 'the place that time forgot'.
Let's start with the positives- lovely location very near the beach, very clean and tidy, very comfortable bed, very nice lounge. About 25 minute walk to restaurants.
On the other hand, no televisions in the rooms, no tea or coffee making facilities in the room (not inclined to go the communal kitchen in my pyjamas for a night cap or early morning tea), could hear the guest next door snoring, nice but quite limited breakfast, not really value for what I paid.
I think I understand what the owners are trying to provide - a genteel environment in the manner of a small english country house without the distractions of the modern world or technology (or the noise of children under 12 - not a policy I endorse, wish I had I known when I booked). Yet I believe those issues could and should be embraced without harming the nice, relaxing atmosphere of the place. Otherwise the Sandpiper may go the way of the dinosaurs (sorry).More
