Owner description: For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, also is one of nature’s official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California.

we went on Opening Day March 1, so only 10% of their 50 acres of Ranunculus Flowers were in bloom: and thus it was 1/2 price!

it was a long walk to the field that was in bloom, or take a $5 wagon ride. there were workers picking the flowers, grown for sale. the flower fields were beautiful!!! at the entrance, there are birds, rose gardens and snapdragon gardens. orchid greenhouse and children's playground too.

I have lived in So Cal all my life. I live just down the street from the flower fields. People come from all over to visit the fields. They are pretty to see, however. The parking is horrific, it just clutters the entire area, not a great experience for families to small children. They do not put up anything really for the kids, they need to add some things to do to make the experience better. Add some areas in the fields so people can sit and take photos. Props of some kind would be great. You can also view the fields from Armada Street, just off Lego Land Drive. It is a beautiful view at sunset and it is free from the street. There is a mile boardwalk with benches to view. Perfect for lil ones to take a scooter ,

Visiting the Flower Fields is an absolute must if you're in SD in the spring! The variety of colors is truly breathtaking. The American flag flowers were awesome! We did the little ride on the truck and we walked it, I recommend the $5 ride because you get to hear trivia about the place. There are also lemonade stands, ice cream and snacks, and children's' activities, gift shops, a rose garden, etc. It was a true delight!
