Four of us stayed in this lovely home for 4 days in April. We had a wonderful visit. The house was perfect for 4. Everything about the home was lovely. It is relatively
small, but extremely well laid out. The kitchen is amazingly well equipped.
The winds were very strong during our entire stay, so the pool was difficult to keep clean. Since we have a pool at home, we were able to restart the robot after we learned it was clogged with long strands from palm leaves. Used the skimmer and went to breakfast; by the time we returned the robot had pretty well cleaned everything up. We used the pool a couple times during our visit, when the winds weren't so strong. It was not heated, but the water was comfortable. The pool
cleaners did come during our visit.
There were plenty of clean towels in the bathrooms; also towels for the pool. Each bath also had a blow dryer. There were extra sheets and pillowcases for the beds.
My husband and I stayed in the Master Bedroom and found the bed to be comfortable. We had no problem sleeping. Our friends said the same about the bed in their room.
The view of Indian Head Mountain from the pool is beautiful and very peaceful. The house is located almost at the end of the road and, although there is a property nearby, the location feels very private. It is very peaceful.
We had a bit of trouble logging into the internet, but contacted Turnkey and got that resolved rather quickly. However, we could not figure out how to use the TV in the Master Bedroom so did not use it, nor did we miss it. The TV in the living room worked well.
All in all, we loved out stay and we all agreed we loved the house! It was perfect for the four of us. We would not hesitate to book this property again.
First off, let me say my wife and I enjoyed this property. The pool area is phenomenal, and the views are AMAZING! The pool is VERY secluded.
So why the one star? Because unfortunately the property is let down by how it's MANAGED. We hade a nightmarish experience when we tried to enter the property.
In two separate emails we received two separate entry door codes from TurnKey. So we were already a little skeptical as far as gaining entry to the property.
Sure enough, when we arrived, neither code worked. We immediately called TurnKey.
On our first call we talked to "Lisa". We informed Lisa that none of the codes we were given was working. Lisa told us she was contacting the local TurnKey representative. We NEVER heard anything back from Lisa.
After 30 minutes of waiting in our vehicle in 100 degree heat, we called back and got "Shawn". Shawn informed us that sometimes properties have "special instructions" that don't make it into the email that gets sent to the renter. He made mention of a "lockbox" - we couldn't find it. Shawn told us he was contacting the local TurnKey representative. We NEVER heard anything back from Shawn.
(By the way, Shawn mentioned that he would work on getting us some kind of "compensation" for the horrific entry experience, unsurprisingly we haven't heard anything back on that.)
Again we waited.
At this point we located the lockbox that Shawn had referenced, so we called back. Yet again we got a different person - "Laura." We mentioned the "special instructions" that Shawn mentioned. Laura told us those were only for the owner for security reasons and would not give us the code to the lockbox! Unbelievable - two completely different stories. Laura was adamant that she wouldn't rest until the situation was resolved. We NEVER heard back from Laura.
At this point my wife is literally crying. We have traveled ALL DAY from Kentucky to get to this property. We have been looking forward to this vacation for a LONG time. She actually booked the trip and by now she was thinking "what if this whole thing is a scam." While I never really thought that, it's a logical conclusion after talking to 3 different people who never called us back.
So we drive to the local TurnKey office. It's been vacated! Now I AM starting to wonder if this whole thing is a scam. . . . we drive back to the property.
At this point, we are about 1.5 hours into this fiasco and FINALLY someone actually CALLS US back - "Sam." Sam was by far the most empathetic of the group. Sam gives us the code to the lockbox, we get the entry keys, and like that we are in the property - finally.
Shortly after settling in, we get a call from someone named Becky. It's still unclear whether she works for TurnKey or is the property manager or the owner or what. She didn't seem very knowledgeable. She gave us a four digit code for the front door. Evidently because someone had programmed the door to use a four digit code, THAT is what broke the 10 digit code system that TurnKey uses. So one hand was not talking to the other. At this point, we are scared to death to even use any kind of door codes so we just continued to use the keys we obtained from the lockbox throughout our stay.
A few comments regarding the property itself.
The pool was very dirty when we arrived. The automated robot that crawls the bottom of the pool was not working upon arrival. We actually manually cleaned the trap for it, hoping that would get it to work. It was obvious the trap had not been cleaned in a LONG time - it was full of debris. That did not fix the problem. So we spent a fair amount of time each day manually cleaning the pool ourselves.
The bed in the master is not very comfortable. I'm a decent size guy, 6 foot 220 pounds, and it just doesn't have any support. They put some kind of cheap "pillowtop" on top of the mattress to try and make it more comfortable but it doesn't really work. Not the end of the world but be aware if you are a larger person.
LONG STORY SHORT - nice property that is completely and utterly let down by how its managed.
We will NOT stay at this property, or use TurnKey Vacational Rentals, ever again unless we are given some kind of compensation for the HORRIFIC entry procedure we experienced.
