Description: The historic King’s Head is one of the area’s best-kept secrets. Situated in the unspoilt village of Wadenhoe, and nestling alongside the picturesque River Nene, this 17th century thatched inn has been serving locals and travellers for over 400 years. We serve delicious and hearty traditional pub fayre as well as the latest culinary creations from our talented chefs... plus of course real ales, ciders, spirits and a selection of wines from around the world to suit all tastes and pocketsIn summer, our grassy riverside paddock is a picturesque hive of activity, where drinkers can sit in the shade of the ancient pollarded willow trees and watch the colourful narrow boats negotiating the nearby lock. In winter, the comfortable bar with its roaring log fire is always a welcoming draw, while the adjoining restaurant area is ideal for larger parties as well as couples seeking a more intimate dining experience. The surrounding countryside is regarded as among the most picturesque in the East Midlands and is ideal for ramblers. Two long-distance footpaths - the Nene Way and the Lyveden Way - pass the doorstep of the pub. Our friendly and professional staff are always on hand to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Well-behaved dogs and children are welcome..We invite you to explore our website for more details of the services we offer... as well as special events you may wish to mark in your diary.

We called in today and had a couple of so called cappacinos and fruit scone...lovely location but what we were served was awful I’m afraid. What passed for the coffee tasted and had the texture of vaguely flavoured water with some milk foam on top and the fruit scone had hardly any fruit and was other wise tasteless. £6.50 for the three items.... it’s a shame but they all tasted like watered down versions of what they should have been.

Open for takeaways and courteous service, what a lovely place and a fantastic location, keep up the good work as the end is in sight, as long as the euro morons don’t screw it up!!!

I cannot recommend this pub highly enough! They hosted our wedding reception yesterday and made it the perfect day. The food was absolutely delightful, they catered for our children with delicious kids menu too. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.
Thanks to Andrea and the entire team, compliments to the chef!

We had a lovely roast dinner with an excellent twist. Service was friendly and prompt. Bravo all round under difficult Covid conditions. Will definitely visit again especially in the summer to eat in the lovely garden by the river.
