The “famous” streets of Berkeley such as this one can be skipped in my opinion…..unless you enjoy more homeless and just plan sad humans. The smell of urine is overwhelming at times.

This used to be an amazing spot with immense cultural wealth. However, the small shops that used to line the streets have been bought out by chain restaurants. Also, it has become so overcrowded with college students, it’s hard to get around without getting bumped into.

We like Telegraph, lots of shops for food, shopping, pharmacy, banks. Lots of cafes for students and food from different continent. Nearby there are few hiking place if you want to skip city area.

Sometime you may encounter strange people roaming around with weed. City is safe and fun if you want to meet people from all over the world.

We like Telegraph as we used to visit it a lot as students to go to cafes, buy our books, have tea, go to some of the shops. We liked the street vendors. Its close to the campus. We returned in July and it always brings back pleasant memories.

It's hard to predict what is going to happen here. There have long been several major vacant lots gathering weeds, but now they are all being built upon, apartments for students and such. Plus lots of construction on lots nearby. This commercial stretch has long been depressed attracting runaways, troubled kids. The street vendors of crafts are OK. Some very good record stores. I miss the book stores.
