My fiancée and I stayed at this resort Nov 18-25 2017. Overall the service was great and the food was by far the best (French & Italian restaurant only) I’ve eaten at any all-inclusive (Mexico, DR, Costa Rica). Coming from NYC you don’t expect the food at all-inclusive resorts to be great, but it was. The French was our favorite followed by the Italian. The Japanese restaurant Ginger is ok as best. The hibachi grill is not worth the effort of putting in reservation. The food again was ok, and the hibachi “show” was just him cooking with an occasional flip here or there. Our daily breakfast was at Le Marche, the breakfast variety was great and I loved the tables on the water.

Activities: Overall The Go Team works hard at organizing group activities/participants.
I have a few activity improvements below.

For those of you looking for a wedding resort, they have a beautiful chapel that holds around 100 people. It's not overly religious which we liked. We are actually having our wedding here this year, 2018.

Here is our breakdown.

Improvements:
-Leave the daily pamphlet in the rooms the night before. It’s a list of all the daily activities. I didn’t get the daily pamphlet until the afternoon the day of, therefore I missed out on all the morning activities.

-Have an additional ping pong table by the swimming area. We saw this at a resort in Costa Rica. Make it convenient for people to enjoy all the activities in 1 area. We signed up for the ping pong tournament and they canceled due to not enough people. It seems that if the pig pong table was by the swimming area more people would participate since everyone didn’t want to leave the pool area.

-Don’t cancel the foam party! I was looking forward to the foam party and it was canceled, it was never announced or stated anywhere. I will be returning to this resort for my wedding, I hope they don’t cancel it.

-Add BINGO! Many resorts we’ve been to have BINGO. It’s an activity for all ages. They have small local prizes and everyone can get involved. I’m in my 30’s and love a good BINGO game

-Add a Poker tournament! My fiancée played in a low stakes poker tournament at one of the resorts and had a great time. After dinner it would be nice to have additional activities to get involved in.

-Add activities to the game room. There were always people waiting for the pool tables, it would be nice to have darts, ping pong, foosball etc to play at night.

-Dance lessons-it would be nice to participate in an activity during the day other than sports.

-Cabana rental by day. We saw numerous cabanas empty during our visit, by the pool and beach. It would be nice if we could rent a cabana for the day and not have to pay for the privilege package.

-Additional drink staff service at the beach. The beach staff was great but very slow. There was 1 girl most of the time serving the whole beach area. It was quicker walking all the way back to the beach bar to get your drinks.

-Please add hair conditioner, it’s especially needed after a day at the beach.

-Improve dinner wait times or open an evening buffet. To get immediate seating you had to be there at 6pm, after 7pm you will expect a 1-2 hour wait.

Things we loved:

-Hand towel and snacks upon arrival (A little goes a long way)

-Room size, comfortable bed (stayed in the basic room)

-Peaceful music played all around the resort

-Friendly staff

-Beautiful Chapel

-Great food at L’Alsace & L’Olivo

-Tasty drinks

Room Tip: I think building 3 & 4 are the best, they are in the middle of the resort.

Truly deserving of 5 stars. We feel pampered at every turn. The resort is stunning; with lush grounds, and beautiful pools. Our favorite restaurant is L'Alsace (French) for a romantic dinner. The hibachi dinner at Ginger is perfect for a fun group. The privilege package is well worth it. To have our bali bed at the pool reserved for us everyday (you can choose a bed at the beach too), to be able to make reservations at the restaurants, our choice of premium liquor, pool bag, fresh fruit and flowers waiting in the room make you feel so special. We had the silver junior suite for the second time , and we love the location close to the pool and restaurants.

Room Tip: check the map on the website to see building location, we like buildings 1 and 2

This is such a wonderful all inclusive adults only resort. The beach was beautiful. It was nice to walk on the beach and not have the sand burn your feet. The water was really blue. The resort was very nice. They have tons are butterflies and lizards at the resort. My husband and I went there to celebrate our anniversary. I could not have asked for a better vacation. The shows were great. The food was ok. I recommend going to see the Mayan Temples and swimming in the cenotes. I highly recommend this resort. Staff was very friendly. We will definitely have to go back someday.

This was our 4th visit and once again in didn't disappoint. On all our previous visits we stayed in the Junior Swim Up suites but this time we were in the Emerald suites by the beach. Our room was nice but the swim up suites were much more convenient to the other areas of the property. The hotel staff was very helpful from the beginning arranging our transportation to and from the airport, upgrading our room and making sure our check in was smooth. We stayed 6 nights and the entertainment staff did a great job with a variety of activities. All the staff members and wait staff were great, but one staff member, Jezer from GO stood out. He was our pool spinning instructor, MC's karaoke night in the sports bar and did an excellent job at Caribbean night. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. Great vacation and we will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Junior Swim Up suites have the best access to all areas of the property

We had the best time at Valentin Imperial Maya. We have been to Playa Del Carmen many times, and so far this is at the top of our list for an all inclusive resort. This was our first trip to this resort and it was worth it. The beach was gorgeous, the staff members were polite and courteous , and the food was good. They had top shelf liquor and plenty of activities planned. Alejandro at the martini bar was our favorite. He was so kind to us. We arrived very early the day of check in and the were nice enough to let us check in and get some sleep ( we are very grateful for that). Another thing that was nice was that they allow you to use a courtesy room to shower and change if your flight is after checkout. This was super convenient.
In past years, going to different resorts, we were sometimes bombarded by pushy timeshare people. We didn’t have any of this at Valentin! You can definitely tell that customer service is a top priority here. Our only one small gripe was that there was not a buffet for dinner. Sometimes when I am on vacation, I don’t want to get dressed up every night for dinner . I wish they would have a casual buffet as another dinner option. The dinner restaurants were good. We were looking forward to the Mexican restaurant with some authentic guac and tacos with cilantro and cebolla, but thy didn’t have that. Then again, we are spoiled where we live with really good Mexican food. Overall this resort was amazing. We can’t wait to return!!
