Inver Lodge is set on a hillside overlooking the bay and harbour. Every room has an amazing view looking out across the bay. If the sun is shining it's a bonus but on our last visit, regretfully, it rained every day. The reception/lounge is very relaxing with open log fire. This leads through to the bar and then through to the small dining room. Spectacular views but ask for a window table. To me the food is nothing special but that's only my opinion. Others seem to rave about it. All the staff are pleasant and very accommodating. If one is looking for a quiet, relaxing break then this is the place to go. Would I return......yes, absolutely!!

We were on holiday in Lochinver for two weeks and my husband celebrated his birthday during this time. I booked Afternoon Tea for two at Inver Lodge and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a beautiful day and we were seated by an open door in the dining room overlooking the harbour. We had a good selection of sandwiches, freshly made scones, creme brûlée and various cakes. In fact, so much that we had to ask for a doggy bag as we couldn't finish it! The chap who served us was very pleasant and chatty. We had the room to ourselves most of the time. For £16 per head we thought it was good value for a treat.

Our room was very comfortable with lovely decor. The sea views from it were absolutely stunning. Every member of staff was really friendly and made both us and our dog very welcome. Fantastic stay. Would definitely return.

It's hard to imagine a lovelier setting for this hotel, which perches high on a hill overlooking Lochinver and its harbor. We spent two nights here in a generously-sized room on the first (second, for Americans) floor and also enjoyed a couple of wonderful dinners in the bright, glass-walled dining room. While it may look like a bland "motel" from the outside, it's definitely not that!

As my husband and I were part of a small-group trip, we had not chosen this hotel ourselves, but we couldn't have done better if we had. The welcome, comfort and food were first-rate. (If the Swiss cheese souffle is on offer as an appetizer, don't pass it up!)

There seems to be a trend in hotels these days to have plumbing controls in the bathroom that are "different" and "cutting edge." Read: "inscrutable." It took both my husband and me awhile to figure out that the control to send water out of the shower head was NOT the set of handles closest to the shower-end of the tub, but instead was on the wall opposite the shower head. Too clever by half, particularly when a guest is hot, tired, in a hurry, and not so patient. The mirror above the bathroom sink had a cute feature -- an auxiliary border light that came on with the wave of your hand (fortunately, this was indicated by a label). Oddly, the magnifying inset in the mirror was set so high that only a professional basketball player might be able to use it. At 5'6", I certainly couldn't have done so, even on tip-toe.

Although many Scottish hotels do not provide face cloths/wash cloths as part of the bathroom towel set, this one does.

As was the case elsewhere during this visit Scotland, our weather in Lochinver was exceptionally HOT. Since there was no top sheet on the beds, our only recourse was to remove the duvet's thick center from its cover and use that cover as our only top covering. Even the conventional blanket in the closet was too thick for comfort. There was a very weak, portable fan/heater in one of the cupboards, but its fan-only setting was much too anemic to make any difference in our comfort, and midges made it risky to leave the the screenless windows open overnight. (We did it anyway, out of desperation, and since we were upstairs, we had no problem with the bugs.)

Still, that was a rare, situational problem, and I wholeheartedly recommend both the hotel and its dining room.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review of your stay at Inver Lodge. I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay with us when we had the glorious weather which doesnt happen to often. Many people have commented on the outside appearance then
been bowled over by the charm of the interior and the open fire place.

Modern looking hotel on the outside, traditional Highland Scottish in the inside. The service was excellent, staff very friendly and welcoming and food amazing.
Being a high end hotel and restaurant, you should expect higher end prices. However, the price is certainly worth it.
For a special event in the Highlands it is definitely worth a visit (book early).
