Had the 10 oz sirloin. Cooked perfectly (medium rare) with delicious pepper sauce and champ. Delicious and great service too. Fantastic location with views over Strangford Lough. Take a trip on the ferry.

As a party of 8 we went here for fathers day. The menu was brilliant with a fathers day specials menu 3 courses for 20 pounds brilliant price for a hotel. I had roast beef dinner and always love a nice rich gravy and creamy mash and this was georgous desserts and starters also georgous and alot to choose from hotel was extreemly busy as it was fathers day but the nice efficient friendly waiting and bar staff that served us were amazing and give us everything we requested would reccommend to anyone. Thank you for a nice meal and service

My girlfriend and I visited on Tuesday 12th June. We booked the dinner bed and breakfast package for a romantic night away. First of all let me say the staff in the bar/restaurant that looked after us were lovely. However the food was truly awful! I had the mussels to start and I am a self confessed garlic lover but seriously they were ridiculous! My girlfriends pate was a strange grey/green colour, now she did say it tasted better than it looked. However in my opinion she was very brave for having consumed it. Main course was hideous I ordered a rare steak it came out well done the first time and quite literally burnt the second time. To quote my girlfriend exactly her coq au vin “was edible “ hardly a glowing recommendation. The girl that served us looked mortified as I didn’t touch either of my main courses. My main course was in fact a take away white chocolate and raspberry muffin from Knotts which was in fact lovely, however not what I really wanted for dinner! After a disastrous dinner we went into the lovely seaside town of Portaferry for a few drinks and a walk. On our return to the hotel we were greeted by a not so friendly woman who told us that the bar was closed! Now let me say this wasn’t that late 11pm approximately. Never have I been a resident anywhere and felt like I was being put to bed early for bad behaviour by a parent! Breakfast to be fair was really good. That alone is the sole reason that I have given 2 stars not 1. On check out there was a really nice lady who apologised for our experience. I was told that someone from senior management would be contacting me. That was almost a week ago! If I even had as much as an apology I really wouldn’t even be writing this. In conclusion although Portaferry is a truly wonderful place, stay somewhere else! You have been warned. To the management, you are in danger of destroying this really nice, quaint hotel and need to do better.

Pâté had discoloured causing doubts as to its freshness. Had to request a portion of the bread my partner received with her cheese pot starter as the one round of regular toast served with my pâté didnt last very long! Expected to see more seafood on the menu given the location however main portions were generous and front of house attentive

Had a meal with friends on Friday night the 1st June. It was excellent. The food was marvelous, staff friendly and attentive and very reasonably priced. Would recommend the restaurant and food to anyone.
