From the minute i booked Stybarrow Cottage everything was made so easy, Christine replied to emails so quickly and with all the info i required. On arrival Christine met us at the beautiful Cottage to explain everything and give us some great local knowledge. Stybarrow Cottage was perfect, it was clean and so well equipt it had everything we needed for our family holiday, the location of the cottage is great too within walking distance to the Lake, fantastic walks, pubs and shops, what more could anyone ask for. We really feel we have found a little gem of a cottage and we really cant wait to return.
From booking through to payment and arrival, instructions are extremely clear which also carries over to the cottage facilities book. The welcoming coal fire and fresh baked treat is always appreciated especially on an inclement day and the background central heating keeps the whole cottage extremely cosy. It is a suitable and comfortable accommodation for our family of four adults and two children and the recent addition of a second toilet on the first floor is a bonus, as is the separate shower room. The kitchen is also well equipped. There are superb views of the surrounding fells and the small garden is ideal for relaxing in. We have found the on-street parking never to be a problem and the couple of minutes walk to the village paper shop first thing in the morning is always a good start to the day. It is ideally situated for leaving the car behind and spending the days up the fells or taking a trip on the Ullswater steamer or for the more adventurous, hiring a motor boat from St Patrick's boat yard.
This was not the first time we have visited Stybarrow Cottage and I am sure it will not be the last. It is comfortable, well-equipped and well-maintained by the friendly, helpful but unobtrusive owners. The location is quiet but central and close to all facilities offered in Glenridding. It is a great base for hiiking, biking or exploring Ullswater and the north and east Lake District. When the inevitable rain falls, it is lovely to come back to a roaring fire in the winter time. Having said that, we had a glorious sunny day even in November, when we went searching for red deer on the eastern side of Ullswater.
