“Marvellous Canarian house in lovely Garachico”

The property is easy to find and there is good free parking available nearby, we were always lucky and got to park no more than 50 metres from the house. The house interior is beautiful and rustic Canarian style, all furniture is of excellent quality and condition. House has satellite tv (didn't try this) and free wifi. The kitchen is huge and has an extensive range of cooking utensils and crockery, we were on a no-cooking holiday so didn't put any of this to use. Coming from Scotland the internal open area which has no roof is a funny concept if it rains, a plus is it lets you keep the bedrooms cool. Bedrooms were great, plenty of storage and comfy bed. The main toilet is a good size and has a powerful shower, there was always a supply of piping hot water. The best part of the house is the roof veranda, seating and table are provided and it is a fab place to soak up some rays- I've taken a photo to remind us back home what the sun looks like. Finally Domingo is a superb host, although he speaks little English he did a great job meeting and greeting us and showing us round the property. During our stay a door key broke and Domingo fixed this without any fuss - fantastic and thank you for a most enjoyable stay in a lovely town. Domingo knows and recommends a number of great eateries, one he may not but is a must try is Pizza Bracco, only open on a Fri-Sun.

“Beautiful house, great location”
Reviewed 1 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

This traditional Canarian house is a treat to stay in. It is beautifully decorated throughout, spotlessly clean, and has a real home from home feel about it. The kitchen is well equipped and has plenty of pots and pans and utensils. The gift of a bottle of wine and locally grown bananas were very welcome. The style of the house is very unusual with the outside being inside. It's worth saying that it is quite dark in the house - and I guess that is the deliberate design to keep it cool in the hotter summer months. It wasn't a problem for us even in January, and, given we did have lovely weather, it didn't feel cold at all. The roof top patio is lovely and gives you great opportunity to people watch!
Garachico is a lovely town, it doesn't feel very touristy, although there are plenty of things to go and see and many nice restaurants. We'd hired a car, and I'd say that was essential to get to see the island, and also to stock up at the supermarket just down the road in Icod de los vinos.
We ate out one evening at the Mirador de Garachico restaurant which was lovely, good seafood and meat dishes, beautifully presented. I need to have a gluten free diet, and it catered well for that, including providing gluten free bread.
I'd certainly recommend, going to stay both at Garachico and certainly this property.

Liked best: The decoration of the house and the location to the rest of the town.
Liked least: Slight confusion around meeting up at the property to get the keys, but not a big problem.

“A home from home, in a great location”

A great house - possibly better than described. A Canarian equivalent to an English country cottage - interesting period features, and a great roof terrace (where we ate every meal).

Plenty of good value, and quality bars and restaurants in the town. As well as great sea swimming and rock pools (with a separate outdoor pool for those that like a more controlled swimming experience).

Already planning our next trip!

Only down-side is on-street parking, that can be challenging at weekends.

“An authentic taste of traditional Canarian living.”

What a lovely house!
Full of character, but with all mod cons.
The photos didn't prepare us for the wealth of lovely period detail.
Being of traditional Canarian design, it is wonderfully airy.
Furnished and decorated to a high standard, it is adjacent to the old quarter of this interesting town and close to a multitude of restaurants. Despite this central location, there is no street noise- just the early morning cockrel crowing!
There is a big free car park just around the corner.
Sometimes one gets a "feeling" for a house, and Casita de la Muelle felt not just like home, but a very happy home.

“Perfect holiday house”

This was a brilliant find. The owner has renovated this old Canarian house so beautifully. The photographs give some idea of how quaint and pretty it is....but they don't do it full justice. Unfortunately the weather was not very good when we were in Garachico and there were times when it would have been great to have some heating provided....but that is my only criticism. We loved it and were sad to leave!
