We are staying in Kobarid and so had to visit this museum. It is situated in the center of the small town, easily accesable, with a parking space nearby. Don't forget a parking clock - you have to set the time of arival, after that u can leave the car there for 2 hours(you need about 1.5 for the museum)
The musemu is in a small street, the door is flanked by a huge shell and a field gun - you can not miss it.
The museum has 3 floors, exhibiting historic items about the carnage in the region between 1915 - 1917.
Many weapons, many tools, or just small personal items of the soldiers who fought and died here - actualy a realy sad experience.
The museum also shows a 15min movie about the war - worth a look.
All in all a MUST see if you are here, a place to remember the countles poor souls who never returned home.

Thank Marko M

Very interesting museum with informative video. We learned so much about the area during WWI. Worth a visit if you have time.

Very interesting and informative to know this fascinating region bordering Italy and Austria. At the entrance they asked which was my language and when I said Basque, they had even a brochure in my language (as in many other languages)!

A small museum, which shows very clear and understandable which big impact the First World War had in this region. Especially the film (4 language of 20 min) shows that well. Foto's, text, letters and the findings is exhibited in here.
The Isonzofront and "Blitzkrieg" were explained and the lost of more than 1 million persons. The interactive model of the mountains and the course of the troop shifts during the battle at Kobarid give a good picture of this battle.
Then you look at the mountains around the town with different eyes.
This museum is founded in 1090 by volunteers and they are still taking well care
