We were not happy with this hotel and its definitely not the 5 stars that it claims to be. Extremely hard beds, tired furniture and rooms with hand held shower and smelly toilet. There is no pool and getting a couple of towels out of the staff to take the beach required a meeting with management. The staff are nice but the place is overshadowed by its sister hotel up the road. In comparison to other hotels this not worth the money and it doesn't come cheap either.

sept 2017. Great view of water through wall of windows, great mattress, clean, safe in room, internet in lobby. However, there are controls & switches for sheers & dark curtains, all room lights, bathroom blinds (bathroom view is through the room to the outside) and which switch is which. As written in another review, frustrating & disruptive. Good luck charging that phone! It's a misuse of technology as entertainment which isn't the point of this room (sleep!). The bi-fold glass shower door does not keep water from pooling on the floor and with no extra towel, a slip hazard. The lovely breakfast is up a stairs behind the desk, no signage. Guests directed one another, desk said nothing. Thank you to the patient young doorman who assisted one guest after another with the secure internet log-in. Clean & contemporary, but the room key should come with a diagram.

I was in room 101 and the view was extraordinary from the cute balcony. You can see the fort on the water. With that, you also hear the street noise...oh well you can't have everything. The room was very charming and spacious with a big bathroom that had a shower and a bath. The breakfast was delicious. The hotel is located close to town so you can walk to the shops and restaurants. The people at the hotel were very friendly and nice.

The positive feature was the view. But there is a busy road directly in front of this hotel so you hear loud traffic noise if the windows balcony door is open. To make it worse, the road ends a short distance from the hotel so anyone driving past to find a parking spot soon returns because of the other problem....lack of parking. There is a small parking garage at their sister hotel higher on the hill but it's a hiking trip to get to/from that location.

The other frustrating feature is the amount of buttons in the room. We were given a quick explanation of what the buttons controlled but it was an experiment just to turn a light on or off. (press a button and then look around the room to try and figure out what it did. It's a bit comical at 1st but not in the middle of the night if you need to use the bathroom and want the light on).

Another interesting surprise was the flooding on the bathroom floor after taking a bath. The water going down the tub drain came bubbling back up from the floor drain under the sink. We used most of the towels to stop the flood and push the water back toward the floor drain. It was disturbing to hear the bubbling sounds from the drain when the toilet was flushed (fortunately no flooding from that).

The biggest plus was the hotel staff. The desk clerk and doormen were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Look into the sister hotel to avoid the road noise or check out the smaller places in town to be in the center of the town's charm

This hotel has a lot to offer:
- Great location
- Fabulous view
- Professional service
- Very good breakfast buffet
- Very comfortable rooms
The only reason I would not give it the maximum rating is because it does need a little bit of a renovation here and there, but really no big deal.
