We come here at least once on our holiday each year and are never disappointed. Tonight we were unsure because of a couple of recent reviews but shouldn't have worried. The service was great even though there were just a couple of people waiting on. They worked very hard. The grilled meat was excellent as usual

We ate here earlier in the week with our close friends. The restaurant is off the main seafront road, and you could easily miss it.... I would advise you all not to miss it.... the service some may find is slow, I would say its typically Greek and relaxed.... if you are in a hurry the please let the waiter know. The food is excellent flavour some and extremely great value for money. All in all a fabulous experience and very reasonably priced. Free Raki and either baclava and or the amazing panacota.......its a lovely place and so worth a visit..... we love it

Ate at this establishment this evening. Awful service due to only two members of staff.
Food was dry and totally over cooked. Table of 3 next to us had a meal totally missing ! Brought out some terrible squid dish as an apology AFTER the other two had finshed their meal.
Wait literally ages between courses, table not cleared, cant get drinks service, many starters were obviously preprepared and not fresh.
So many other good restaurants around Plakias don't waste your time or money.

I really dislike leaving poor reviews, but I was looking forward to Manousos Taverna based on the excellent reviews and can see is potential. While the other reviews are not incorrect in their impression, my experience differed. Greeting was swift and gracious. First course, stuffed aubergine was very good. Then the highly recommend grilled fresh fish of the day arrived a bit past it's freshness prime. Not completely turned, but distant from fresh. And while the waitress was sympathetic, I could see the grill man from my table throughout the meal light and smoke 3 cigarettes in the outdoor kitchen; obviously he didn't care if the fish was fresh or about the customers. T
Such a travesty because it has the potential to be a great restaurant in a great location. Yet it failed tonight.

Would describe as traditional Greek/Cretan with a modern twist. The grill chef Giannis knows his skill. Irene is meticulous in selecting different suppliers for the quality of meat (lamb cutlets vary as do steaks animal to animal even back at home!) The catch of the day is often caught by Manousos himself. Some of the reviews do not match up against our overall experience: welcome received, the hospitality, nor mention the bespoke decor, relaxed service, the exceptional value for money, large portions and quality of food & overall dining experience. All pastries, desserts, grissini etc are made fresh on site by Irene's cousin. Breads, 3 x appetizers 3 x mains 2 x 0.5ltr wine & water less, Orange cake/Raki less than 60€ #superb #fantastic #hiddengem
