I really dislike leaving poor reviews, but I was looking forward to Manousos Taverna based on the excellent reviews and can see is potential. While the other reviews are not incorrect in their impression, my experience differed. Greeting was swift and gracious. First course, stuffed aubergine was very good. Then the highly recommend grilled fresh fish of the day arrived a bit past it's freshness prime. Not completely turned, but distant from fresh. And while the waitress was sympathetic, I could see the grill man from my table throughout the meal light and smoke 3 cigarettes in the outdoor kitchen; obviously he didn't care if the fish was fresh or about the customers. Such a travesty because it has the potential to be a great restaurant in a great location. Yet it failed tonight.

Would describe as traditional Greek/Cretan with a modern twist. The grill chef Giannis knows his skill. Irene is meticulous in selecting different suppliers for the quality of meat (lamb cutlets vary as do steaks animal to animal even back at home!) The catch of the day is often caught by Manousos himself. Some of the reviews do not match up against our overall experience: welcome received, the hospitality, nor mention the bespoke decor, relaxed service, the exceptional value for money, large portions and quality of food & overall dining experience. All pastries, desserts, grissini etc are made fresh on site by Irene's cousin. Its a place that you understand the true meaning of "Hospitallity".
The experience i had with their food was unique, specially with the famous "TASOULAS MOUSAKA".
Also the yard I was sitting is a place that you can relax without the loud music of nearby bars etc.
Price were the BEST in the area, and i am so sad i didnt know about that place from the beggining of my holidays.

We ate here twice whilst on holiday and both times it was delicious. My husband loved his squid asking how they made the sauce.

My wife and I just could not find a place to eat for our penultimate night in plakias. We remembered this place but was already fully loaded. A short while later we were at a table and the drinks came quickly. Our food was great and authentic. The staff were very accommodating and the head waiter was really pleasant to talk to. Would recommend this place .
