As said in my previous review, I love Portuguese chicken. I eat it when ever possible. Not many places in the north can rival the real Portuguese taste of Rosetenville and La Rochelle, but 1920 does. Authentic and tasty. Well done!

This quaint restaurant offers everything you may want, great atmosphere, efficient service, superb food (!) and good value for money!
For a starter, we shared a deboned sardine with vinaigrette. So tasty! For mains I had chicken breast in a peanut curry sauce with corn fritters, my wife the pork fillet with milho frito (mealie meal and kale blocks fried in olive oil). Both these meals were done to a T, with the pork fillet medallions exceptionally tasty and succulent.
We had a Portuguese wine and had finsihed off with 1920 Don Pedro (1920 is a Portuguese grappa)
Highly recommended!

Usually, you have to book WELL in advance to get a table at 1920 - like a week or two! So do call first. However, we were lucky to be able to walk in and get a table for four. This is an authentic Portuguese restaurant (we went with Portuguese friends) and I can honestly tell you that the Calamari (Lulas) were the best I have ever had. SOOOO good - like you wanted to sit in the plate! Had to order more bread to soak up the last of the sauce as I couldn't bear to leave a drop. Worth planning ahead and making a booking. Tucked in a corner at Ferndale Village, it's larger inside than appears from the door. Highly recommended.

Having driven past this centre often, I was surprised to be recommended to this gem of a restaurant. as we opened the doors the warm atmosphere of happy diners surrounded by genuine Portugese memorabilia welcomed us. We had not booked and we thought we did not have a chance ... with his attention on everyone in the restaurant Manny, the owner turned to welcome us and an empty table miraculously appeared. The choice from the menu was difficult because there were several appealing dishes put I almost haphazardly selected feeling certain everything would be great. .... and I was right! I selected a fish and clam dish with delicious flavours which I polished off, and my husband queen prawns. I tasted one of his prawns and this was proof of why the restaurant was so popular. It tasted like LM prawns ... plus! the service was attentive but not invasive and as we left our farewell greeting was warm. Yes, we will definitely return, often and invite friends with us!

It was advertised as open on the internet, even on Tripadvisor. I was on a business trip and used Uber to get me there. Upon my arrival they were closed. I suppose I should have phoned first but on a Sunday evening in Bryanston you would expect restaurants to have the correct information. Make sure you phone this establishment befor eyou go there.
