“Great camping epic climbing”

Mountain Sanctuary Park
Reviewed 3 September 2016 via mobile

It's quite a nice place to spend a few days camping.
The rock is really good with mainly hard routes available.
It's a really nice place for hiking too. Beautiful river with lots of wild creatures.
I recomend spending at least one night and two days.

Thank joeliff

We didn't stay here but came twice for a day visit.
Easy to reach with safe parking.
Reception is very helpful with advice and directions.
They also have basic necessities like water, cold drinks, ice and ice creams(a treat after long walks) and the ablution facilities are very decent.
The park itself is beautiful. Virtually untouched with some good signposts close to the camp. The rock formations are amazing and the vegetation is completely natural.
We walked both times in winter so rock pools were pretty dry.
Close by are the magical Cedarberg and Tonquani gorges - but you need to contact the mountain club of SA for access to those.

One of the most beautiful places to visit. Get away into nature and enjoy unspoilt waterfalls and pools,

We went camping at Mountain Sanctuary this weekend and was very disappointed. They have one ablution block that is supposed to service over 30 campsites. You cannot leave your campsite unattended as the baboons and monkeys are a nuisance and when i say that i am not over-exaggerating. One of the monkeys managed to enter our bakkie through a small opening in the window and cracked the windscreen when we tried to scare it away. Apparently theft is also an issue. As you enter reception they have a big warning sign telling you to look after your belongings. This obviously does not make one feel safe! In the mornings they have workers that come to collect the ash of the fire from the previous night. The guy only collected the ash in the braai but left the ash that fell out of the braai on the ground. The above mentioned is only a few issues we had with the place. Its very sad to see a beautiful place like that mismanaged. We are serious campers and have been all over. Not once did the manager/person on duty come to our campsite to see if we are doing okay. Needless to say, i cannot with a clear conscious recommend this place to anyone..
