Very deceiving photos. The bedroom is in the dining area, you open the room door and you are literally in the restaurant. On the first evening the dinner was served in baskets. The basket is not practical the food was ice cold and awful. Definitely did not live up to the expectation. Not value for money. One positive thing is the staff try to make up for the disappointment.

Bonjour,
THE venue is French themed and it mentions everywhere that the suites run out onto our quaint street cafe' for 5/7 couples enjoying their dinner in candle light & french music background-- been running for 15yrs and almost everyone loves the concept. Our dinner baskets consist of a cold starter , fresh side salad & miniature homemade breads, a french chicken& leeks hotpot pie that also gets baked just before serving with wild rice & veg, a cold summer berry desert & creame fresh!
We have a wonderful dream team that's around all the time to warm food or for any complaint -- as I say in our info brief-- not for the modern finicky person!

REGARDS,
MARGUERITE & TEAM .

The place is different and quaint. Ambience is nice but rooms were little dark and we shifted our room after one night because the previous room was smelly and was not well done. The rooms lack privacy as you step out of the room to see people dining. The food was very disappointing as chef did not know how to cook decent food and definitely did not know what to cook for a vegetarian person.

Spa was good massage ladies did a wonderful job!

Over all I wouldn't rate more than 2 and 0 rating for the food!!!

Bonjour BINITA,
We're a themed venue & depict a CENTURY old French Provence village-- our suites are not bright and modern-- specifically done like that to create that more romantic SOFT ambiance-- we are very clear in our advertising and all our info ! We have lovely open fireplaces in the suites and that might be the so called smell you talking about ?
We serve a 'PLAT DU JOUR' set menu-- meal of the day and don't claim to have a big variety which is also advertised and menu discussed with the guests at breakfast.
So I would have thought you would have gone to nearby restaurants for your vegetarian requests-- our staff tried their best to accomodate you ,when you did not want what was on offer-- our delicious stuffed butternut as the Vegetarian main course ?
Greetings,
MARGUERITE & STAFF.

We treated ourselves to a Valentines special at this quaint little place. There is just so much attention to detail. Our room was a real treat and had a huge fireplace with two comfy rockers.Plenty of roses and chocolates as promised. The staff were very attentive and couldn't do enough to ensure that we were well taken care of.The food was really good and well presented. The only disappointment that the French bubbly promised was in fact a local cheap variety. The spa was amazing. We didn't do the river picnic as the weather was not in our favour.I super experience

We spent a weekend at this wonderful place.
Food was delicious. Every meal was different.
The staff were wonderful at 1st but seemed dissapointed about their tip at the end if the weekend, which made us feel a bit awkward. The owners are lovely people, they introduced themselves at breakfast.
The SPA is an absolute added bonus.
The real beauty is the
buildings and decor. A weekend isn't enough to absorb everything.
I wil certainly revisit. Great value for money.

Got to spend a weekend in this enchanting place. The cabin was quaint and comfortable, with no attention to detail spared. The staff i have to rave about. So welcoming, friendly and helpful. They even wash your vehicle before you leave.

I absolutely loved the setting of this place. There is an abundance of flora in the property and it also boasts these huge trees. The dogs on the property are just as friendly and in my opinion adds to the charm.

For dinner they served a 3 course meal inclusive of salad with a sour cream tart of some sort, bread, chicken and mushroom pie and custard with berry compote for dessert.

The food was slightly below average. Really did not enjoy the pie. The pastry was chewy and the filling dried out at the bottom of the ramekin. The cocktails however was really good.

Breakfast was the total opposite. It started off with yogurt and muesli followed by eggs bacon mince and beans with cherry tomatoes. Not to mention the amazing view of the stream Nestled amongst weeping willow trees going with that amazing breakfast.

There was a storm that night and the power was off from 9pm till 7am the next morning. Mosquitoes are a huge problem here and they ate us live because there was no electricity to use the plug in insect repellent, so word if advice peaceful sleep is a must. Also whilst the cottage was very neat the windows are in serious need of a wash.

There is a small pool on the property but the water is freezing.

Thx alot for your review input-- our french chicken pies usually a great hit -- chef luckily went on staff leave--- perhaps she comes back with new french zest!!
Unfortunately being on the river does create a mosquito problem-- power being off also did not help!!.
We do ask that guests are aware and bring their own mosquito repellent-- will def make sure of that once again. Be sure we will do our best to check all mentioned for future guests.
REGARDS and hope to have you back in the new year.
Always trying to improve!
