Its right where Aeon mall is so you get plenty of shopping + food. Nearby are a cluster of restaurants and 24 hours convenience stores. Best of all, the service at JR INN is excellent. Highly recommended!

Hotel was well located on to of the Asahikawa rail station and Aeon mall. Shopping and restaurant was a breeze, not having to walk out into the freezing cold. Staff was very pleasant and the rooms are very clean. Other services like laundry, guest waiting room, hot spa and reading room was excellent.

This hotel has the best location as it is next to the train station and a huge mall. You can find food easily. Hotel is new, service staff are polite and there’s a hot bath on level 5 which is where the lobby is located.

We booked 3 pax room so it comes with twin bed and 3rd bed is the sofa bed. Room size is good and toilet is reasonably size.

If you drive, park on Ground floor under the highway bridge as there’s a lift to the hotel.

The standard pillow is a bit on the firm side so if you want to pick down feathers or cotton pillow, you need to check in early.

There’s also a little counter in the lobby where you can pick up hairband, facial wash, facial cotton etc.

Jr Inn Asahikawa isn't the typical image of what we think of an inn. In fact, it is even better than most hotels, gives a homely and comfortable feeling; ranging from the interior design and facilities available such as the provision of pay-as-u-use washing machine, a 2-in-1 door in the room (functions as a toilet door as well as separate the beds from the toilet space). Needless to say, cleanliness is of good standard.

It is directly link to the mall which gives easy access to food and transportation.
Asahikawa station is a tranquail area to stay for those who wish to visit Asahikawa zoo, Biei and Furano area.

Those interested to visit Asahikawa Zoo can purchase the entrance ticket at the tourist information center. Then hop on to bus 41, 47 from Berth 6 at Asahikawa bus terminal, which is just outside of the hotel and tourist information center). 1 way trip cost 440 yen. Do remember to take the bus ticket when board the bus from the back door (seems like is the way Japanese board the bus), then alight at the front and pay the due fares.

One cannot fault a JR Inn, after all it is right above the JR station (even though we were driving), which means all the facilities were right under the hotel.
While I have travelled and stay in various Japanese chain hotels. I like the fact that this hotel had little cubicles that the washer and dryer are in.

The onsen on the whole was great (but this is kudos to the staff, I left something behind in the onsen locker. The staff managed to locate it and send it forward to my hotel in Sapporo. All communications was via Booking.com).

As most Japanese chain hotels, the rooms are a little tight. But overall it is alright if you are use to it.

Unfortunately, parking was not free. The hotel uses the mall parking services (a tip keep driving till you can almost see the outside scenery and park near the mall side entrance, which is also by the hotel lift entrance; near the handicap area which is cordoned off. It was not that easy to locate if you are not familiar)
