Park is okay. Campgrounds nice, but diamond digging a waste of time. After 19 years of visits and digging, sifting and washing, nothing. No diamonds or even a chip. I've come to the belief that they salt/plant, rough diamonds bought online. Just spread before they plow and whalaa, you have a money making park.
Water park okay, needs a 4 or 5 ft deep area added as well as more covered seating areas with a cooling mist/fans.

Crater of Diamonds State Park is the only diamond mine in America (and possibly the world) where you can keep whatever you find. The park is pretty much an open field where you go out and DIG ! There is a nice gift shop with lots of diamond mining information, supplies and history. A lot of fun for younger kids who think everything is a diamond. :) Take lots of water and sunscreen -- it is very hot out in the field.

This is a dirty activity so wear clothes that can get dirty. Rubber boots are a plus if it has rained recently. If it’s muddy like our visit, they have a great cleanup area. We got there early, which is a good idea since it can get warm doing the work required. Our dig lasted about four hours before we gave up on the diamond. We did find some pretty stones and had professional help in identification. The mining setup seemed expensive at first but they refund most of the money when you return the equipment. You can bring your own equipment however and plenty of people do. The water park is nice for the small kids and the staff is very helpful. All in all a great visit.

My family group of 4 adults visited today. We found a lot of non precious rocks ... but had a great time! Enjoyed the park and the town. Nice place to spend a day or two.
