We took a day trip to Ancud and Chiloé on our family vacation to south Chile. We came here only to eat lunch. We didn't stay at the hotel.

Our food took 90 minutes to prepare. When it arrived, two of our steaks were so overcooked they were inedible. The shrimp cake that came with the salmon was so overpowered by lemon that you could taste nothing else. We had to send back the two steaks. The tiramisu that was served as the daily special was frozen.

They didn't charge us for two meals, but for our party of seven we still paid over $130 for a terrible experience and a waste of daylight. By the time we got finished the shops had mostly closed.

An old rustic hotel with very small rooms. But it is fairly well maintained. Rooms as adequate. The common area off of the lobby is very nice and a good gathering point. Wines were very good and fairly priced. Hotel has very nice grounds

Room Tip: rooms on the hallway going away from the street.

The hotel is lovely and clean. The staff is friendly and the dining room and reception area are quite spacious. However, the rooms are extremely small and there is no place to put your suitcase or open it. Also, there is no safe in the room. The hotel is conveniently located if you want to go to town but the town is small and not particularly interesting.

The public areas and restaurant of this hotel are very nice with a great view of the coast and ocean. The design is a bit like Frank Lloyd Wright meets Disney's Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge Hotels (timber construction with stone, bamboo and nice wood carvings). The rooms however are VERY small. With walls lined with split logs it they are a bit like staying in a log cabin. The rooms are a bit warn and it is hard to find places to put things like your bags. That said they are not horrible and are certainly unique. The hotel sits just above the fort and within a four or five block walk from the center of the town (a bit of a climb up a hill on the return). An OK place to stay as long as you don't plan on spending much time in your room. Wifi was available in our room but was rather slow.

This hotel enjoys excellent views overlooking the waters' edge. The construction is reminiscent of old national park lodges (in a pleasant kind of way). Guest rooms are small and voices carry from room to room. Strong wifi throughout the property. A healthy 6-block walk downhill to city center (10 minute walk into town, and 15 minute walk back up hill).
