I returned to stay at Novotel Batam after voting in the Singapore General Election 2015. With a smooth check-in led by Wayu,, I got to my executive room and spent a few moments getting acclimatized. The room seemed spacious and clean with a balcony of a nice view of a red, red setting sun.
The room was tastefully decorated and as I relaxed to watch the Business News, I noticed I was feeling warm. Not just warm but sweating. After checking the air-con settings, I called the technician twice, but after the second time, he said it might be better to ask the front desk for a change of room. This, I did soon after. I spoke to Steven, who I think was the duty manager that evening, who did say that most of the rooms were already full and that there was a similar executive room but that there were rooms with twin beds. I did mention that I didn’t mind a smaller room but one with a double bed as I was staying alone.
Within minutes, Steven was at my door with the key to a replacement room. It happened to be an apartment on the second/lobby floor. And yes it was much bigger, and with a functioning air-con too. I continued to stay in that room until Sunday when I checked out.

I would also like to commend another staff member, Agustina, who was working at the front desk. I needed to reconfirm my ferry ticket from Sekupang to Singapore. Despite her young age, she was most helpful, offering suggestions on my backup plan if the ferry was full. Intelligent and full of initiative, one of the more pleasant moments of my stay at Novotel this time around.More
