Well, you'd expect a shepherd's hut to be compact, wouldn't you? So no surprises there. But Miranda, the lovely owner, has gone to great lengths to make the very best of the space - with every need catered for down to ample storage space under the bed, picnic blankets to take out, millions of candles and little lights (there is no electricity), a beautiful wood fire burning stove and the cutest decor you ever did see. It was SO cosy and lovely - and much more special than staying in a hotel. And it actually felt quite spacious despite our heaps of stuff. We did keep some stuff in the car (because we'd massively overpacked) but that was parked about 20 seconds away!
Set in an extremely peaceful spot on the atmospheric Preseli Hills, which is dotted with sheep, Neolithic ruins, and with lovely outdoor space to sit in on the bench or pretty table and chairs. There's a gorgeous stream about 10 metres away from the hut which you can hear - and nothing else. The stars on a clear night were amazing - could very clearly see the Milky Way! And a fire pit meant we got to eat lovely camp food in the evenings alongside the breakfasts cooked on the very easy-to-use hob in the mornings.
There are also some lovely books to read, and a very cute Tree-Bog which smells of lavender and seems to have solar-powered fairy lights. And very tasteful furnishings.
Oh - and the whole thing is very eco-friendly - as low-carbon as possible (well, I guess it depends how much wood you burn)!
We had plenty to do too - went to Newport Beach, Marloe Sands (gorgeous), Tenby etc, did some coastal walks....just took each day as it came.
