Ok but not great

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Oct 2015
First of all I don't feel the hotel itself looks completely like the pictures they advertise. Having said that it's a budget hotel and not bad. Centrally located and pretty much all that you will need in the room. The staff is friendly and does make you feel welcome. All and all if your on a budget not a bad choice!

St. Nicholas Inn is located nearly at the heart of CDO. The location itself might not be the best one out there but for its price and the service they offer its definitely a bargain for travelling people. The rooms are very simple as it was clean and even had a cable TV for the guests to use. The staff were very accomodating as they attended to our needs everytime we need one. The manager even drove us to the bus station going to Camiguin. One thing that stood out for me was when we left a watch in the Inn they went out of their way to ship it back to us in Manila after a week. Definitely plus points on their staff and management. I would recommend people on a tight budget to stay here.

I chose this hotel because I wanted to be near the centre of CDO. It suited my purpose fine. It is close to the Cogon market and a short walk to the small Ororama mall.
The room was fine - nothing special but had the essentials - aircon, TV, bathroom with hot and cold shower and free wifi. Everything worked too, which is not always the case in budget hotels in the Philippines.
Although the location is busy, the hotel is set back from the road, so I was not troubled by noise. The staff were helpful, allowing me to keep the room until 3pm on checkout day with no extra charge, then storing my case for another hour while I did some shopping.
I would stay there again if the location was appropriate to my needs again.

My friend found this place. We were to stay in CDO for two nights and we opted to stay in two separate accommodations for each night so as to be able to review more affordable stays in city and at the same time experience a different ambiance. It is a little off the main downtown area but since CDO is a small city, everything is still within minutes away. I love that it is not in a very busy district because that is what CDO is known for long before the construction boom started ---the laid back feel. And that is what exactly what you will find in St. Nicholas Inn. Not only that the area is quiet, it is spacious. From parking to the corridors to the rooms, there's enough space so as not to feel crowded. We booked our room for only 800 pesos and I find that a very good deal for an airconditioned room with a mini-fridge, queen size bed and a lot of space to roam around. The staff are friendly. We didn't have any problem at all. They were very quick with our requests and they didn't even ask us to pay for extra person as our friend stayed with me and my wife in one room. Maybe they missed it but I heard of other similar accounts. Maybe they are really generous? At any rate, our first night in CDO was very relaxed because we stayed in St. Nicholas Inn so I can easily recommend this place to my blog readers and friends.

convenient place to stay since it is situated near Cogon public market, if you are up to immersing yourself and experiencing the night cafe, then you can do so since the market is practically a walking distance from here. With regards to the facilities, the rooms are well maintained and clean though if you happen to be in the ground floor rooms, the noise from people going upstairs can be heard, so try to find a more quite room or better ask the desk manager if he/she could tell the other occupants to please be a little more mindful of the peace in quite of the place. All in all, it is a good place to stay. Oh and I almost forgot, this is for all the coffee lovers, they do serve freshly brewed coffee which is nothing short of great.

Room tip: Lower floors tend to get a lot noise from upstairs occupants.

Stayed for 3 days to go white water rafting and experience Dahilayan Nature Park.
The rooms are tidy and well kept. The staff are friendly and always willing to help. They even provided us with contacts to travel and agencies and suggested other spots to go to. The owner of the Inn was super nice and he offers private city tour and transpo to Dahilayan. Very affordable and safe.
The location is pretty awesome too. Right smack in Cogon market where the buzz of the city is at it's highest.
