For a romantic dinner with pleasant service and good food, this is a good choice. It is a converted old stone house with lots of character. There are also a few tables on the veranda for drinks or lunch especially. Suitable dress is smart casual, so don't go in your beach wear!

Route 57 Restaurant,in my opinion, is the best Restaurant in Mossel Bay. We dine there often, and have never had a bad/untasty meal. Every meal is prepared and plated with absolute passion, and the Chef personally asks if you are satsified with your choice of food. They have a wonderful choice of Wines to compliment everything on the Menu. The Restaurant is clean and well decorated. I highly recommend Route 57 Restaurant for tourists and locals alike.

Although we are only fish eaters we have not previously experienced problems on our travels
There was a lack of fish on the menu and also a lack of ability to change sauces
We both had the two fishes available to us
Ruined by creamy sauces both in the fish and the vegetables
Did not enjoy the meal and would not recommend

We had seen the reviews for Route 57 and given that they were a mixed bag we were not sure what to expect. We ended up having the best meal of our holiday with the menu, food, service and value for money all being superb. Only one person had a starter as the rest of us were keen to try the desserts. He was very happy with his sesame coated cheeses. For mains I had the pork belly (I have had this a number of times in different restaurants and can comfortably say this was the best version I have eaten), two people had steak and the third had seafood. Everyone was very complimentary about the dishes they were served. For dessert, one person had the baked chocolate which he rated highly. Two of us shared the cinnamon dumplings which were excellent. It was great to be able to choose between traditional restaurant dishes, which all have a Route 57 twist, as well as new takes on local cuisine. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back next time we go down the Garden Route.

We had a very nice breakfast, great menu, reasonably priced. Service was good, coffee was exceptional. We sat in the outside area where it was nice and cool, loth of plants end water futures. Will definitely add this restaurant on our “to go to list”
